I went to this gym specifically for their Firefighter Physical Fitness Test Preparation course. I got my notice from civil service and was shocked that my test date was within the next two weeks! Although I had been training at a gym regularly, I thought this course would be a good idea to get familiarized with the layout of the civil service test. I also realized no one else in my area was offering such a course. From the time I called NJ HIIT Gym to inquire about it, I received amazing service. It started from the moment when I spoke to Annie who was very patient and explained everything to me over the phone. She did not pressure me at all and explained that the course teaches you all three components of the firefighter physical fitness test along with tips and tricks for getting a better time on the obstacle course, the darkened maze crawl and the ladder climb. Annie was not joking when she said this course would prepare you for the real deal! The owner of the gym (Jose) is a firefighter so I figured who better to run this type of course. Jose told us that his practice course was made to be much harder than the real civil service test. From the vest weighing more, the steps being higher, the fire extinguisher and dummy weighing more, this was a good thing because your real score would be much better than the one you got at NJ HIIT. For example, I actually failed the obstacle course at the NJ HIIT gym with a time of 5:45 but since I still trained the next week and continued to practice with the tips and tricks that Jose taught us, I was able to complete the civil service obstacle course today and have a time that was a whole minute and 14 seconds quicker and I was able to pass! Jose was an amazing instructor who took his time showing us the course obstacle by obstacle and he left no question unanswered. We were also able to practice the maze crawl and the ladder climb over and over until we were confident and knew that we had it. At first, when I was speaking to Annie on the phone, I was thinking although she was so sweet that the course was a little over my budget but let me tell you that paying for this practice course is a decision that I do not regret. Sometimes we need to make investments for things that are important to us. Taking this course was a great investment for me. It gave me the confidence to know that I could...

Read moreWhen I think of the perfect gym, NJHIIT exceeds the expectations. When looking at the facility, it may look intimidating with all the equipment and the setup. I, too, had the "oh lord" this is for people who are extremely fit; it looks intense. As a mother of three, I have tried to get my baby weight off for many years. MY oldest baby is 19 years old, and the youngest is 7. I have struggled repeatedly to diet, joined multiple gyms, and injured my shoulder due to lack of proper form. I continued to work out, but I didn't push myself hard enough to make a change but enough to stay "healthy," at least that what I told myself. After reading some of the daily workouts, I wanted to give up; I mentally defeated myself without giving it a chance. What I can say is give it a try don't allow the appearance of greatness to deter you. This gym is set up for EVERYONE regardless of your physical ability. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, which decreases or limits the chance of injury. They constantly go around to check your form and correct it often as needed. You won't have someone yelling in your face, and you will have someone giving you that motivation you need to get you going. They modified the workouts if needed, and each day the workouts are different; there is no chance for boredom but a great chance of a healthier, stronger you. If you're looking for a gym, look no more; give it a try just one day, and you...
