Club Pilates has absolutely changed my life. I recently moved to NJ and wanted to join a gym. I already belong to LA Fitness, but I wanted to try something new. For years Iāve dedicated my life to fitness, Iāve done everything from weight training, Orange Theory, CKO, Zumba, Spin, etc; if there was a fitness class or club, I joined. For years, I never committed long term to any of the above mentioned activities, because I did not enjoy them, I hated the high-intensity, and I overall would get over them. I have always wanted to join a Pilates club, because I love the way Pilates trims your body and I heard nothing but amazing things. After joining over the summer, I started taking all the 1.0 classes I could take (easiest level) and instantly fell in love. Every instructor is a master of their craft, but my favs are Melissa (she focuses heavily on core), Kristen (early morning and is a beast) and Lastly, Laura. Once I made it to the next level (1.5 harder) I began taking Lauraās 1.5 suspend class and thatās truly where I saw a shift in my strength and my body. I never thought I would be able to do the exercises she asks of us, but somehow my body just does it. Iām talking planks in the air, bridging in the air with feet in straps and overall insane moves that just absolutely get you ripped. I have never been able to see my eleven lines and abs, and now I see them, my body has become so trim and fit because of these classes. Laura is unbelievably brilliant when it comes to Pilates, she pushes you so much and believes in you (sometimes more than you believe in yourself) and I canāt forget that she is absolutely hysterical and creates the best atmosphere for her students. Recently, I finally made it to 2.0 classes which are one of the hardest and it really was a wonderful challenge. Thatās the thing I love about this club, itās a gradual mastery of moves. You have to build up to understanding how to properly do the exercises, and then you can move to the next level. I am approaching my 100th class soon already and I cannot believe what an amazing experience this has been. If you are having any doubts because the price is a bit much, I always put things in perspective; you would spend that money on food, clothes, shopping or if you are like me, on partying/alcohol. So, I say, why not invest that money in your body, mind, and overall health. I love Club Pilates and I thank Joe for signing me up and forever changing my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe owner happened to be there when I stopped by to inquire about Pilates at the North Brunswick Location. He talked a lot about the history, the founder, and why Pilates was so unique. I remember sharing my goals and my hopes to strengthen my core to help alleviate back pain and hip flexor issues since the birth of my son and being inactive during the onset of COVID. We talked about how long most people stay enrolled to achieve that goal and I left there with a plan. First thing , I did my research and enrolled, and second was to stay on for 3 months then continue the work outs on my own at the gym. Well, that was April of 2023, and I plan to keep my membership forever! Iām 190 classes in and this is the best decision Iāve ever made. The way my body has transformed is unbelievable. Iām in a new space that Iāve never been able to achieve with weight lifting and/or cardio alone. I have regained all of my flexibility and I am noticeably stronger than Iāve been in the past 10 years. Pilates defines the smallest muscles you donāt typically isolate with other work outs. Not to mention the glutes! People donāt say it out loud, but they have doubts that these glutes are trademarked by Pilates lol. It is pricey but as my husband says worth every penny š It is intimidating in the beginning for sure, but trust me, hang in there. Stick to the 1.0 classes to get a solid foundation, donāt rush into the 1.5 too soon. My favorite Instructors (whom I found Intimidating at first lol but adore now) Maryann, Laura, Jessica, Cari, Melissa! They each offer something different and I need that variety. As I said, Iām 190 classes in yet still so much to learn. Iām always working on my form and Iāve learned slow burn and form is the key to definition. I hope this helps someone, Joe changed my life! One thing to add, definitely stretch your hamstrings and quads daily at home, otherwise you can get tight which in turn can create...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHonestly i wish i could give zero stars instead of one. I haven't ever done Pilates before. I went into Club Pilates North Brunswick today at 4:45 to sign up as a New Member i was very excited to start it was for my Birthday. I show up and was not acknowledged at all i stood at the front desk for 10 mins. I realized there was only an instructor so i sat down and patiently waited i waited un till 5:30 so about 45 mins and the instructor saw me the entire time. I was in work clothes because i came straight from work excited to sign up to it was apparent i wasn't a member. The instructor started the new class at 5:30 never acknowledged my presence what so ever. I was so upset i left without signing up. It is now clear to me that club Pilates is only going to talk to you if you have already paid and are a member. It saddens me that they couldn't even take out the time to help someone that hadn't paid for a membership yet. Unfortunately this experience has turned me off of Pilates for good. It was awful to be ignored by a business that models acceptance transformation...
