First of all, I'm 100% disabled army veteran that is here for surgery from fighting multiple sclerosis. I've been to the store over 15-20 times in a month. I've was there today. I was approached by Nick one of the owners he tapped me on the shoulder in front of other people and said you know in the future when you shop here make sure you put the perspective stuff up you took off the shelf elsewhere. but you you put it somewhere else. We watched the video and noticed it was you than he walked off. I walked over to ask him what his name was he said I'm Nick I'm one of the owners here. I have multiple sclerosis. I was in a wheelchair for four years. I have a service dog by my side. I'm sorry that I decided not to get your product and I set it down the shelf. Easier and closer for my disability. isn't that what employees are there for to help someone that's disabled so after he said that to me, I went out to my car with my service dog told my husband what happened And said I'm not giving them business. This is the one on 11239 US Highway I cannot believe the how rude and unprofessional he was. I've lived all over the United States of America serving for my country and this is the way I'm treated you ain't in New York Floridians don't take that. F-F-F- Rude Rude Rude and to think the two times they cut my cold cut and my cheese was a huge lump I was understanding. My husband goes in the store to talk to Nick. He told my husband I dropped a bag of pasta on the floor and I didn't pick it up. He said wait my wife is disabled with 4-12 inch metal rods in her back she can't bend over. Her service dog can pick up items we are buying but not ones that aren't ours due to the teeth could puncture the bag. He said he watched the video and wanted to confront me. This was my first offense!!! He usually doesn't contact people til multiple offenses??? They embarrassed her for no reason. I will be filing a complaint with bbb, disability act and the Va. he kept saying if you want me to send you a video of the fence she did. I will send it to you and my husband is like offense you act like she stole some. All she did is put a product down that she didn't wanna buy she didn't wanna buy something and she put it down in an area that was easier for her because she's disabled with 185 pound great Dane that helps her not only with mobility but lower retrieval. It was Clear. Did she once get mad that all your employees came over to a service dog and was petting on her no did she get mad that everybody made a big deal about a service dog no but you made a big deal after spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars in your store over the last month that she put products down that she did not wanna buy what a disgrace to the Italian community a disgrace to anyone that is serve...

Doris Italian Market is a beautifully curated space that blends authentic Italian market charm with convenient, ready-to-eat foods and tempting bakery selections. On a recent visit, I sampled a variety of savory and sweet items. The experience was mostly enjoyable, though not without a few misses. Here's a breakdown of what stood out—and what could use improvement.
Bakery & Dessert Items
Raspberry Danish – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) This was the clear standout. Flaky, buttery pastry with a sweet-tart raspberry filling and a delicate icing drizzle—every bite was rich, flavorful, and fresh. It’s a must-try if you’re a fan of fruit-forward pastries.
Chocolate Fudge Brownie – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) Rich, dense, and loaded with chocolate flavor. It’s an indulgent treat that satisfies the chocolate craving. A bit more moisture or contrast in texture (like nuts or sea salt) could push it to a 5-star level.
Double Chocolate Cookie – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) Super chocolatey with a fudgy, brownie-like texture. The only drawback: it was quite sticky and clung to the teeth, which made it a little difficult to enjoy fully. Flavor-wise, still very good.
🔹 Prepared Foods
Chicken & Cheese Calzone – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) The calzone had a solid bake with a golden crust and a generous amount of filling. However, the filling itself was basic—just chicken and cheese, with very little seasoning. A bit of garlic, herbs, or even a touch of marinara inside would elevate it. The side of marinara helped, but the interior could use more flavor on its own.
Penne Pasta with Meat Sauce – ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (1/5) This was the weakest part of the meal. The pasta was slightly overcooked and didn’t taste freshly made. The sauce was fine—nothing special—but lacked the depth or brightness you'd expect from an Italian market. More herbs or a touch of olive oil could've helped. When choosing from prepared meal needs to be careful.
📝 Final Thoughts
Doris Italian Market delivers well on baked goods, and the variety and quality of desserts alone make it worth the visit. The savory side, while decent, could use more attention to seasoning and freshness, especially considering the reputation and price point. Still, if you’re looking for a solid Italian-American market experience with indulgent sweets, Doris remains...
Read moreI placed a custom order for a Pear Frangipane tart for a Thanksgiving get together with friends last week. I spoke at length with a friendly employee at the bakery, explaining in length that I wanted the almond filling with the raspberry jam at the bottom of the tort, with the only exception in the topping. Instead of almond slivers, I requested thinly sliced pear so that it looked the way that they do the apple tort that they currently serve (that one has a custard bottom). I was put on hold as she needed to confirm with the baker that it was possible and agreed the raspberry jam would be an excellent complement to the pear. When she received the okay from the baker, she advised that a manager would be in touch with a credit card form for me to complete and return. The manager sent this to me a few hours later. I don’t supply credit card info other than in person and confirmed with the manager that I could come in person to pay but would need to do so by Thursday. All correspondence was the same day of my custom order. I appeared in person and paid for the order. I picked the order up on Saturday, (our event was Sunday) the pear wasn’t thinly sliced but still looked nice. It wasn’t until the pie was served Sunday night that we realized it wasn’t almond filling and there was no raspberry jam as discussed, and instead it was a custard filling. We did not want a custard pie. I immediately emailed the manager that evening and never heard back. I called the next day and was placed on hold for 10 minutes before I had to hang up. I again emailed the manager for follow up and as of this evening haven’t had the courtesy of a phone call or email response. To me customer service is paramount, to provide a custom order that was incorrect and not even acknowledge the matter is disappointing. I order 2-3 cakes every 3 months and this was the first time at Doris in North Palm... what a disappointment. While the staff are friendly, the lack of interest by the manager is disconcerting. I won’t be...
