These folks probably feel like they cancelled me, but they actually did me a huge favor. These are the kind of places that made the gaming culture so completely toxic. The focus on exploitation, attainment and one upmanship comes directly from the top in gamer culture and this shop follows perfect suit. At some much sadder part of my life I was entrenched in this nonsense. Of course like anything, I have some positive memories, and I made some positive friends. I remember the day I was 86ed from this bardo called Advantage I was hugged and told how much I was missed by my good friend Carl, who has always been a model member of the gamer community, and it causes me to reflect that even though the owners and some of the more cowardly patrons of this shop encouraged people to harass and gang stalk me even to other establishments, that not all gamers are bad. Sure, there are guys like James, who will perniciously wait to exploit younger gamers, or Lee, who will pretend for years to be a friend but then stab you in the back to reduce competition. If I was cancelled from NDenver magic it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I have since overcome so much of what held me down, including my involvement in this absolutely dead and vampiric life sucking culture. Honestly I hope this place stays open forever and these idiots get stuck in their own self created misery, if only to serve as a reminder of how happy I am to be away from these folks. I invite anyone who actually wants to break free from the sickness that is gamer culture...
Read moreI love this shop! Super friendly staff and regulars. If you play EDH this is where you want to be on friday nights, especially since it's free to play EDH and there is prize support (a pack per win and monthly promo for first win of the night?! you can't beat that!!!)! Always enough people to fire multiple pods and the verity of decks keeps it fresh. If you like to trade there are a lot of players here who have impressive trade binders and you don't have to worry about people screwing you. It's also very welcoming to new players. I consider myself a very casual player and I am never made to feel inferior because I don't know something. Another reviewer stated that this store was not female friendly and I wanted to set the record straight. I am a female and I am there most friday nights playing EDH by myself. Though there are not many other girls it is a very relaxed atmosphere full of good people and staff so I know I have nothing to...
Read moreThe prices are a bit too high. For example the D&d books are all a flat $49 when the same book shipped is $31. Sure I expect a little mark up, but that's too much of a mark up for me. They do have a some d&d miniature selection priced about average. Some figures i haven't seen carried at other local game stores. The board game selection is okay sometimes but mostly a miss. It seems to have been picked clean of the gems for the last 3 times I have gone. As far as the player base, I have expressed interest to join but kind of got the feeling that they didn't really want more players just being really general and not actually helping me find a group or introducing me. Where my experience with two different game stores they helped me find games that are currently being played in the store and started getting me involved in a league to meet...
