best place ever! my kids had so much fun. the first thing I want to mention is that they are VERY SANITARY. 👍 the staff really pays attention to everything going on. they wipe down the toys/equipment, diaper changing station, and the breastfeeding areas after every use, with an all natural cleaner, no chemicals. oh and the fact that they even have a diaper changing station and nursing rooms is a plus! (if only they had regular bathrooms in the place too... you gotta ask for your locker key to get your slippers/shoes to go outside and use the mall bathrooms. but maybe it's the whole sanitary thing they're trying to uphold.)
anyway, so they require the adults to wear socks in the play area, but not for the keiki. so make sure you bring your own, or you can buy socks from them for $2/pair. (they're actually really comfortable and soft!) you can carry your stuff and water with you around the play area, but they keep the strollers in the back. you also have to read and sign a liability waiver, and register (adults and kids) before paying to enter.
it's recommended that you go at 10, when they open, because after that it gets busy real quick. wait times have been as long as 2 hours!
so in the play area, there are LOTS of things to do. they have an area where the kids can dress up as doctors, firefighters, police, etc and pretend. or a little grocery area, kitchen and dining room. it's so cute. next to that is a table with paper and markers that you can color, then scan the paper, and it'll show up animated up on the wall. and then a Lego table and wall. next to that is a huge ball pit with what looked like an obstacle course inside! (I didn't go in this area so I don't know much about it sorry lol) then next to that is a baby/toddler area with a tent, small ball pit, and some kind of baby obstacle climbing thing with two slides. it's cushiony and soft for the little ones. ((note: just be careful because there are some parts that are closed off with this plastic window and some where it's open and can fall down backwards (if you look at the pictures, it's by the steps and little "rock climbing"area). my 1 year old fell that's why, but he's okay.))
then there's an area for the bigger kids that's like one big jungle gym. all cushioned. near the register, they have small motorized cars that the kids can drive 🏎️🚗 in the middle of this whole place, they have tables and chairs that the adults can sit and wait lol plus a table with toy trains and tracks, and a table with toy dinosaurs.
phew, yep, there's a lot going on in here lol but worth the $20ish/per child! they knocked out in the car REAL quick 😂
oh, they also have a small private party area in the front! I think I might reserve a birthday party here! 😁👍
hoping that they can open another...
Read moreWe had our son’s birthday at this location for his first “big boy party” where he invited his whole class and close family. From beginning to end, Kids City employees were extremely helpful. The consultation/ planning call gave us all the info we needed. Invitations were a breeze with their online platform. On the day of, they helped us unload and set up our decor and gift bags. All we really NEEDED to plan was the food, paper goods/utensils, and minimal decor. We just had letter balloons and a couple of Sonic the Hedgehog balloons. You don’t really need much as most guest will only be in the room to eat and sing “Happy Birthday.” We made gift bags to go with our theme but Kids City bags were already included so you don’t even need that. Attendants came to empty trash throughout the party and helped us clean and unload. Announcements to our guests to come to the room were made on the PA system so we didn’t need to rally everyone and they also announced when it was time to go. All of our guests had a blast and we actually got to be present with our kids and guests which was the most important. We are not the most affluent family but we felt that what we invested in the cost of this party was worth every penny. The mental load of hosting was minimal due to the organization and attentiveness of the staff. Yes, you can do a party for a fraction of the cost on your own, but the value of what we got by booking Kapolei Kids City was definitely worth it. If you want to throw a party that you’ll guests will love, with minimal effort, Kids City is...
Read moreThe new Kids City Kapolei is great! Here's a quick list of my pros and cons:
Pros: This place is MASSIVE! And it's different play items and areas than the one at Ward. Although it seemed crowded on a Sunday evening, there weren't areas that just had too many people or the lines for certain activities (the swing and the rock wall climbing) were short and went fast. The party rooms looked spacious and cheery. Location is good and price is worth it!
Cons: Lockers were glitchy and not controlled (each person can get a locker if they want instead of one per party) and can be crowded. No more assigned lockers with cards, you have to remember your locker AND combination. The toddler area is more for pre-schoolers (but I have a pre-schooler so it was perfect for her). They don't have the soft blocks, mini slide, or baby ball pit anymore. I think tiny toddlers would require parent assistance to do anything in this area.
Overall it is a great place to bring your kids. This location does cater to bigger kids also cause I almost got bowled over by a few running around at full speed. There are also a lot of entrances and exits in the different play areas so you have to keep a good eye on your kids or you'll lose them. Our daughter had a blast. Two hours was perfect. An hour would've been too short but three is definitely doable without her getting bored. Will definitely return now that it's open on our side...
