Island Shave Ice And Creamery — Restaurant in Oʻahu

I was hoping that I could find some shave ice on Oahu that was just as good as some of the places on Maui. I stumbled upon this place and it seemed really good so I wanted to give them a shot, only to be highly disappointed.

I hate writing this, but I don't understand how this place has such great reviews. There really were no positive things I could recall from coming here. I ordered shave ice with tigers blood, vanilla ice cream on the bottom, and mochi balls, and in total me and my family got three shaved ice.

First off, the texture and consistency of the ice was just alright, it was a bit too hard and chunky. But the main thing that did it for me were the flavors and the syrups.

Every time I took a bite, it was just a mouthful of sweetness and sugar. Not only that but the syrups just tasted extremly fake and processed. In addition to that, each flavor did not taste even remotely close to what they were supposed to be. The syrups kind of tasted like nothing, and it was just sugar. I really wonder if the syrups were expired or old. However, it doesn't stop there, and this is probably the biggest turn-off for me and the shave ice. The huge turn-off was that every, single, flavor, tasted EXACTLY like bubble gum. It's so weird how literally every single flavor tasted just like bubble gum, as if all the syrups were mixed with bubble gum, and personally I am not a fan at all of bubble gum flavored things. The ice cream at the bottom of my bowl was just alright too, there was something of about it too. Same with the mochi, it was alright but something was off about it.

I'm not going to lie but I couldn't even finish the shave ice because of how revolting it was. Overall, I was very disappointed because all the reviews seems good but in reality it was not at all. Pros

1. restaurant is small. There were a few tables and chairs inside. They have biblical inscriptions and Bible verses listed. Looooove it!!!
2. they also have crepes, ice cream, icees, milkshakes, sundaes and halo halo.
3. we love all of our desserts. Chocolate macadamia nut ice cream and the caramel cream ice cream was delicious. Shave Ice was so good. Our banana Nutella crepe was delicious. No complaints on the goodies.
4. our table was clean and so were our chairs.

Cons

1. we tried to use the plastic fork to cut our crepe. The plastic fork broke. Got another plastic fork and the same thing happened again while using it to hold the crepe down so we can cut it with the plastic knife. Lol 😆 But they were so nice. They provided us new forks quickly.
2. it is a little tiny inside. So it was a bit tight inside when we were there. There were alot of people inside. But with everything tasting so good, why wouldn't it be packed.
3. parking is small and tight.

Conclusion We all loved this little desert place. The two staffs inside were so sweet and professional. I love that they have biblical inscriptions all over. No complaints on the sweets. Id go here again. Try this spot if you haven't...

Went to Island Creamery today 2/6/2021 P.M. to get shaved ice. We usually go there for shaved ice regularly. BUT today, my shaved ice was terrible! It appears that a young man was given the task to make my shaved ice. It became obvious that he had little experience in making shaved ice. On his first attempt, he tried to pack the ice with the spoon but instead was cutting and shoveling the ice out of the bowl. Realizing that about 1/3 of the ice was not in the bowl, he tried to fill the bowl again. Because he didn't want to dig into the ice, he never packed the ice into a ball. As a result, he didn't put too much syrup on the shaved ice because the ice was quickly melting when he poured the syrup onto the ice. When I told him that he needed to put more syrup because one side was not covered, he poured the syrup only to see the shaved ice lose its shape and resembled slush in a bowl. To make matters worse, a female coworker was watching the young man struggle and did nothing. This young female did my wife's shaved ice and it was properly done.
