I am an HUGE FAN and REGULAR PATRON. It’s my absolute favorite spot for massage and I have been to many many different spots. I have been coming to OFHC for over 5 years. The ladies are all very kind, the service is usually always perfect or maybe a little less-
It’s clean, affordable, straight forward and I never have an issue with their pressure. But I also am very fit and I enjoy the slight discomfort that only last a minute then gives me days of lasting relief and better well being. Their foot massages are my favorite and I wish I could get them every day! But 2 - 6 times a month is all I can actually do 😆
When I go in I always tip the lady that works on me well over the 20% mark. And this is because I think they are beyond generous to work on a body with full energy for 2 hours. When I go in I ask for the combo and I end up paying like 100$ and I always tip 50$ for the 2 hours - 25$ an hour if you break it down.
Which makes sense and is fait- I never feel cheated. And thankfully neither does my massage therapist that day 😇
Most massage places you will be base line paying 200$ for an hour. So for me to tip well, it only makes sense cus I am a regular patron, i like to see them happy, my massages are always just what I need, and they always make me feel welcome. Mary is actually one of the women who works on me regularly and she is always so kind and pays attentions to my body’s needs- she gives the massage appropriately because sometimes I do need her to use more or less pressure and luckily she understands that so I always leave a happy camper. And I feel good about paying a FAIR amount.
I never come in for less than 2hrs but if I was paying her 60 for an hour would I would give at least 17-20$ in tip- like that’s only right - IMO.
To think that the basic 20% is fair to give on a 2hr massage just cus you go to any restaurant and give the same tip amount to both the super amazing attentive server and the non existent server is just silly. And I can see why they find it rude and choose to show that they are upset.
The ladies at the OFHC never stop giving throughout the entire time you’re in their hands - and they are already offering services way below the basic pricing for their time and expertise. Even with the 50$ on a 100somethin service that I give them happily.
Every time I go I give 150 total with tip for 2 hours
So I would say if you can’t find the value in what they provide at Oakland foot health center worth at least a 17-20$ tip per hour. You may likely get yelled at because that’s just how it seems to go. But if you’re like me and my friends who come here and know just how much work goes into a massage- and have ever had massages from other places that are like double or more the price. You will HAPPILY and graciously give them more than the measly 20% because it would be then a fair amount for the work being given.
PLUS you will avoid any weird situations and be comfortable to take advantage of their amazing prices for years n years like my friends and I lol. I find it absolutely ridiculous to see some of the complaints on here. Seriously - if they didn’t choose this place for the price they are lying to everyone and themselves and they wanted to take advantage of the deal. Literally. Which is a sad reality.
I can not recommend this place more, cus in my world I have probably already told everyone I know and I have yet to hear any gruff from them. Granted I tell them how much should be given- and I have never heard that they think the experience is worth any less.
And yes the language barrier can be difficult but a quick google translate or asking a Chinese speaking buddy what character or word would be helpful before going to OFHC only takes a second and it will be worth it. I had my one friend do that and ever since- she’s been getting perfect lighter/softer massage that really makes her happy. It’s really simple you just have to use your thinking cap.
I forgot to mention- I love how late they are open, I always get massages in the night right before bed. It’s...
Read moreTHEY DEMANDED MORE $$ AFTER THE SERVICE ! Please read before you book Got a 60 minute foot and 60 minute body massage. I paid $100. I received a mediocre massage, the masseuse walked away during the massage at one point to answer the door. When the massage was over I tipped her 20% ( $20 in cash) which was generous for the service I received,
You wouldn't believe what happened next: She screamed at me that it wasn't enough that for 2 hours m, I should give her $30. Her voice got loud and agressive. She was DEMANDING more money like I owed her. I couldn't believe what was happening, she was yelling, visibly upset and because my wallet was out she looked and said "you have more money, give me more money." I grabbed my things and walked down the hallway to leave she followed me to the door demanding more money. My mouth was on the floor.
I should have taken back the money but I'm not vindictive. I walked out disoriented and upset from what should have been a relaxing expirience and vowed NEVER TO RETURN.
DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE. THE MASSAGE IS MEDIOCRE AT BEST AND THEY WILL SHAKE YOU DOWN AND DEMAND 30% AT THE END OF...
Read moreQuality of the massage is hit or miss. I have had really good massages here as well as mediocre ones. For cupping, they use a vacuum cupping machine. I enjoy it, but also prefer traditional fire cupping sometimes.
Definitely not a spa like environment, more of a hole in the wall, which I do not mind at all. Professionalism is not a priority here. I do sometimes question the cleanliness as well.
What I hate the most is that they alwaysssss aggressively try to upsell you. Then at the end, they aggressively demand more tip. I generally tip 20% and they alwaysssss ask for more. I have learned to stand my ground and only come with a certain amount of cash, but I will probably not go back because I am tired...
