Won Kee Supermarket Inc — Local services in Oakland

Won Kee is one of the larger grocery store/supermarket in Oakland Chinatown. They have a lot of variety and good prices for various Chinese/Asian goods.

The grocery section is huge and the prices are better than Safeway's and Lucky's.

They have a big frozen food section with frozen dim sum, dumplings, frozen meats, etc.

I get a wide range of groceries there including dumplings, meat, produce and I like grabbing different sauces, especially their hot sauces and chili oils.

Their meat/seafood section has a lot of fresh pork and seafood products with a butchering team. I usually get pork loins and ribs there.

Their check-out counter has 5 different lines. They take cash and credit. As an alternative to selling plastic bags, they offer boxes (like at Costco) to transport your items, it probably helps them save people power on collapsing and...

Won Kee supermarket is a super secret gem (for white people at least) of Chinatown. My mom in Idaho wanted nothing more than a bag of Li Hing Mui for her birthday so I waltzed over. It's a 5 minute walk from Lake Merritt BART.

Alas, I couldn't get in the first time because I didn't have rubber gloves or any small bills to buy some. Chinatown knows how to battle Covid!

The next time i went with gloves I got SIX different varieties of salted plum. My mom thought I'd scoured all of Chinatown, but that was a one stop Goldmine.

I go there all the time nowadays. Great fresh vegetable and fruit selection. Great Chinese...

🤣😂😅...I have been coming to this Supermarket for awhile now...However, I just got robbed out of a dollar at this market near Oakland Chinatown. Not only people get robbed by criminals off the streets, but apparently; businesses are getting into the act. Unfortunately, I didn't snap a picture of the price displayed before someone changed the price while I was in line for over 15mins. They were arguing and pretending they don't understand English 😅😂🤣😅😂. Can't argue with these idiots that only understands English when THEY needs assistance. In any event, gotta remind myself that these fools are scandalous...
