So I did two visits. I am updating my review. ||||When I entered the management said the 4th floor doesn’t allow pets. I’m like okay whatever, I’m not going to argue about this again. When you check in check in at night to get a 4th floor room. Smoke free room is filled with smoke again. The general manager Mr. Singh basically lied about firing the people that he said he would the last time I was there. My friend who booked another room was banned, but no staff knows why. Savannah even said it’s not like that person to assault a staff. The owner wrote it. The staff asked the other staff and no answer. She told me to ask the general manager Mr. Singh, but he was present when I made the inquiry. He gave me a look and walked out when the staff was trying to find out why. This is very unprofessional of him. This is suppose to be the hospitality industry but there has been nothing hospital about the management. It’s been over a week and still no responses. The management is horrible, but the staff are amazing. A+ to the front desk staff and housekeeping. ||||||This was my original review : The manager is horrible. I booked and stayed the first night with my family and pretty after being displaced. We were in the 4th floor. Paid pet deposit and everything. ||||The next morning I was asked if I was going to extend stay and they said okay. Moments later they said they did not allow dogs on the 4th floor, and will die the person who allowed it. I asked if I can do it later since my family members were at work, but he said within 15 mins and I can't take more time. I was injured after the fire too. He said if I could move in I can move out. Very inappropriate. Injured after a traumatic event and to be told that just shows the lack of hospitality. I asked around and the employees said no they don't have a no dog policy on the 4th floor. ||||They placed me on floor 2. There were other dogs there. I was like okay. I turned on the heater and smoke came out. Realizing how it smelt, some one hot boxed in the room for sure. And that the freshness of the room was to hide the smell. I then went to walk my dog and my family was frighten at what they saw. It wasn't appropriate for children. The freshness was gone. People were triggered by the smell of smoke, since we had an apartment fire. ||||They moved us to the 4th floor. After they said they didn't allow dogs. After sending us to an unsafe floor. After being shocked they sent a kid to the...
Read moreI was in Oakland on business on Oct. 3-4, 2015. Unfortunately, most hotels downtown were booked and our staff booked me into this one. I can truly say, I NEVER have stayed at a more rundown hotel! My nightmare started when the desk clerk did not want to check me in because my name was not on her card, even though our company had paid in advance. Finally got a mgr. to intervene and I got my room. Thank God I did not get a "bay view" as our staff suggested. The trains seem to run 24/7 RIGHT OUTSIDE THE FRONT OF THE HOTEL!! Talk about noise! Train horns non stop! The rickety elevator, the one that worked is either a thrill ride or a death trap! The carpet in the hallway on my floor was gone; ripped up and old padding left behind. The door to my room had about a 1/2" gap with the door jamb. Room smelled of smoke, even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. I had to give a $50 cash deposit just in case I smoked in there. I called down to the desk immediately and told them that I did not smoke in the room and there was evidence someone before me did. They told me no other rooms were available and that my deposit would be refunded. There was clear evidence that the carpet had not been vacuumed. The OLD tv had nothing but snowy channels and the remote did not work. There was no iron that I needed for my dress shirts. It took forever to get hot water to run in the shower. The towels felt like sandpaper and were all small. So much for a bath towel to dry with. Parking sucked! They were holding a reception and the guests had nowhere to park either, so they took the hotel guest parking and crowded the entrances and exits with cars and people with no direction from hotel staff. The view from my room was nothing but rooftops of corrugated metal and graffiti. Truly, this was the hotel from hell!! The bed seemed clean and as of yet, I have not found any bites from anything that may have been crawling around. I would NEVER, EVER, EVER, recommend this place to anyone!!! It was so bad that I was tempted to sleep in my rented car! I would have had it not been for having to shower and iron my shirts. The City of Oakland would do wonderful by convincing someone to buy this place, tear it down and replace it with something that fits the trendy area that surrounds it! Please, please, please, never stay here, even for one night! Stay further out of town. Save money...
Read moreBefore I begin - the short version is do not stay here. Totally unacceptable. I am not even sure how this place is open.
My husband and I were traveling to the different NP’s in CA and wanted to do a little sight seeing in San Francisco and meet up with some friends before beginning our trip. We had never been and figured we would just find a hotel in San Fran that day. Well lucky us, there was a major conference going on and alllllllll the hotels were booked. We called so many places and my husband called the Jack London inn. They had a room available and we were so excited that we just headed there. So thankful to have a place to stay.
Had never heard of Oakland before. We’re from the Midwest and were not at all prepared for what this hotel had in store for us. As soon as we got off the highway it was tent city which was a red flag. Kept going. Parking lot was horrible, front desk was horrible. I don’t even remember the staff because honestly I was so traumatized by everything else. We went to dinner and visited friends and were so nervous to leave our stuff in the room. I blasted the TV and left all the lights on which worked but when we got back it was a nightmare. The cleanliness was awful it smelled bad there was a condom wrapper in the water fountain and just trash all over the hallway. Some of the door handles looked broken when we were walking by. Our room was atrocious. I looked out the window and there was a uhaul that had cardboard over the windows and garbage all over the place. We legit slept in our tents because I couldn’t even handle the idea of getting into the bed. Dead bugs on the ground and the neighbors were screaming and throwing things all night long. I didn’t close my eyes a second all night. I honestly can’t even believe we stayed. I can’t believe this place is still open. So many drug addicts and scary people everywhere.
Almost forgot when we left the next morning the staff asked why we didn’t call the night before but honestly I was so terrified to even move. We got out to our car and the car next to us had the window shattered. I can’t even believe we stayed.
This isn’t even just a cleanliness issue with this hotel is a major safety issue, If I could give negative stars I absolutely would. I am 100% convinced the good reviews are the owners / paid. DO...
