East Bay Regional Park District- Big Break Regional Shoreline — Attraction in Oakley

First a thank you to the very enthusiastic staff at Big Breaks VC. If you have not taken time to visit do. I was interested in the flora, and there is a possibility of a future class. We shared apps (Merlin-birds & seek - inaturalist flora). Happily I added a new lifer to my bird list, a Barrow's Goldeneye. There is wonderful signage, plenty of parking and bathrooms. Very nice visitor center. Art on the walls, displays, interactive exhibits, an area for kids activities, videos, all very well done, informative, and engaging. Staff was friendly. We went a step further than the average visitor and put a bunch of Cub Scouts to work on a service project, which the staff was also very accommodating for. Very pretty spot to view the shore and all of the birds. There is a visitor center there but it was closed when we went. There are a lot of nice paved trails, a covered playground and a dock.

You can take dogs on the paved trails only so I didn’t get to check out all the non paved areas and the dock, which I’ll have to...
