I had the most perfect day this past Monday at Splash Mountain. The water park was not very crowded at all, which was very nice! My mom who has cancer and is currently undergoing chemo treatment needs to have minimal sun. We were hesitant because we have been to several other water parks this summer and ended up leaving because of the lack of shaded areas. Splash Mountain has an abundance of shaded areas and even has sections of seating that have those large canopy umbrellas over top of the chairs. No matter what section of the park we were in, my mother was able to find a shaded area with a seat! Overall it was the perfect day and my 5 year old son had a blast! The lines were short and we barely had to wait for any of the slides. I also wanted to mention how clean it was. The bathrooms were very clean and so were all of the children play areas and wave pool. A few things to note, if you’re going to make children under a certain height wear life vests- please get some updated ones!!! The ones provided were all warped, damaged, and very outdated. My son was very frustrated because he can swim! I’ve spent a lot of money on swim lessons and he does not need a life vest at all. In the wave pool and going down a few slides he was so uncomfortable due to the life vest. It kept riding up around his neck and he felt like it was choking him. I understand this requirement but it should not go based off height. It needs to be based off if your child has the skill to swim or perhaps age? But not height since my son is short for his age! There were also a few slides that my son was restricted from doing and while I do respect the rules, I thought it was kind of silly. The last thing to note is, this is 2022. People don’t typically carry cash often anymore and I think that’s absurd that the food stands are cash only! It’s a water park- who wants to carry cash around with them to get wet? I just would think you’d have more payment options available. Overall though this water park is a wonderful option and I...
Read moreWe've been coming here now for the past 4 years. This year I've noticed that there's been a lot of "clean up" going on! THANK YOU! We'd like to continue to make this stop a part of our family tradition. It's a great time for the kids. I even tried out MOST of the rides. The food has improved significantly (tacos, hot dogs were fresh!). Bathroom was amazingly clean (the ones over by the new big yellow 4 person slide). Staff was more attentive to cleanliness in the kiddy pool... THANK YOU! Prior experiences were OK and that why I only gave 3 stars. I am excited things here are improving! We enjoy and spend lots of money at this Jolly Roger park and the one at the boardwalk. Improvements everywhere! THANK YOU. PLEASE keep up the great progress! We have noticed and took note :)
I would have given more stars however I have to make this point.....PLEASE WORK ON YOUR STAFF with regards to RIDE SAFETY!!! I get that hiring kids for summer help is the commonplace down here but SAFETY MUST BE NUMBER ONE.... I will say that all the rules pertaining to height, glasses and weight were enforced before the following incident.... Was going to attempt that insane "loop" slide but I WALKED AWAY because the poor kid ahead of me received the poorest attention and ZERO preparation by the staff. The person at the bottom of the loop wasn't even on stand by. The kid in the tube had no idea what was going on. I kept motioning to him to hang on and keep his arms folded. The girl at the top wasn't providing instruction to him and she was trying to get the other attendants attention at the bottom with her waving arms and whistle. Total FIVE MINUTE FAIL! The rider wasn't ready and hit his arm on the unexpected drop. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER on these types of critical safety rules or you're going to find yourself in the news one day! RELIEVED that his arm wasn't broken.. good grief!
Overall ratings FUN 5 stars FOOD 3 stars CLEANLINESS...
Read moreI visited Splash Mountain on Tuesday, August 27th, 2019 with my family for a "grand finale" of our vacation. We asked 4 employees for a map, so we could see which rides my son may enjoy. I spent 30 mins with different directions from 4 different staff members on where to find a map, to finally be told there were none. So we would walk to the top of a ride, only to find out it wasn't something he could do... slightly annoying to say the least. I decided we would play at the smaller slides where the water pirate head dumped water. I climbed to the blue slide and watched as two children went down together in front of a life guard who was sitting down with his head slowly drifting to the side & down. He was ASLEEP!! I tapped his knee to wake him, obviously startling him. I accompany my son, however I am shocked at the amount of unprofessionalism, not to mention unsafe practices your park has in regards to its life guards. As we went down the lazy river, I saw two life guards staring at their cell phones instead of watching the kids in front of them. To top the experience off, I tripped at the 2 1/2 for pool with the small pirate ship, fell in the water on my back and scratching my right leg badly. As I sat up in the pool, reeling from the shock and pain... it was my young son who jumped in the water to see if I was alright. There were TWO life guards less then 12ft away from me "watching" that very pool and neither made a move to help me. Instead, I sent my son to get his father to help me up to see if I could stand. I walked to the "First Aid" station to ask for a bandage to stop the bleeding and was handed an Ice Pack instead. Needless to say, we left and will not be back. You would do yourself well to just put a sign that says "swim & slide" at your own risk and save yourself money on staffing, at least then those who visit would know that there is no one to help if your child may be drowning or if you...
