My wife, daughter, and I were here in December 2023 for a 3-day vacation around the Christmas holidays. We liked the rooms and the location of the hotel but there were aspects of the service that left a sour taste in our mouths.
First, as far as the rooms go, they are spacious and well equipped. Our room had two queen beds along with a separate sitting area that had a couch, a TV, and a table plus four chairs. In between the sitting and the sleeping areas, there was a kitchen with a full (not a mini) fridge, an electric range, an oven, and a dishwasher. There were also a fair number of bowls, pots, and pans, along with silverware that one could use. Given our preferences, we used the kitchen each morning of our 3-day stay to make oatmeal that we had. We were also able to use the fridge to store all of the leftovers from the meals that we had outside.
Second, as far as the location of the hotel goes, it is very close to the beach. One can literally walk out of the hotel lobby and within a minute walk into the sand. Even though it was fairly chilly in December (unsurprisingly), on one of the days of our stay we went to the beach and my daughter made sandcastles for a while.
The negatives of our experience pertain to the service, especially what we experienced on the very last day of our stay. The usual check out time is 11 a.m. but because my daughter wanted to use the pool before heading out, it would have been tricky for us to check out by 11 a.m. Accordingly, I called the reception in the morning and was told that I could check out as late as 12:30 p.m. and based on our conversation, I understood that a fee applies only if guests check-out past 1 p.m. However, at 12 noon, when I went to the check-out desk to confirm our late check out time, no one had any record of that time being 12:30 p.m. and moreover, the person at the front desk was unfriendly. That was frustrating. Then as we were back in our room hurrying to get out, a staff knocked around 12:25 p.m. asking us when we were leaving. That was also stressful. Being in the dead of winter, the hotel was not very busy and had many empty rooms. Under those circumstances, they should have been more willing to accommodate a later check out time and at the very least, recorded the later check out time correctly as 12:30 p.m. and not as 12 noon. (And by the way, there is no clock adjacent to the indoor pool which makes it hard to keep track of time when one is swimming and is without either a wristwatch or cell.)
In addition to the indifferent and occasionally unfriendly customer service, some other minor issues were that the dishwasher did not clean dishes very well. Even though we used the highest "heavy" setting, when on the last morning, we needed clean bowls, we found that the bowls in the dishwasher were dirty and needed to be cleaned manually. But because there is no dish scrubber in the room, that made it difficult to clean the bowls by hand. Lastly, the closet doors in our room (613) did not move smoothly and they seemed out of alignment.
All in all, this was a fine hotel based on the size of the room, the amenities available, and its location, but there are aspects, especially related to the somewhat indifferent customer service, that preclude me from rating it as a 5-star and making it our default go-to hotel when we next find ourselves in...
Read moreThe hotel building was pretty nice, but they need to better manage their fruit fly infestation. Getting service at the bar or restaurant was such a process each time that we just started going to the bar and restaurant at the Nextdoor hotel instead.
There were 3 nice staff members out of like 50, so it left much to be desired. They were all miserable. One staff member actually yelled at me because I told him about the fruit flies in the room. I don’t like being yelled at especially by men, so I was immediately uncomfortable also because I don’t like people who cause scenes in public.
The staff was also smoking directly in front of the “no smoking area” sign and the smell made me sick each time I exited and entered the building.
I also don’t get why there are so many lifeguards on staff but they don’t actually stand by the pool. They just huddle by the towels. Not really a lifeguard role in my opinion.
The restaurant food was good, but again, the staff just made it tough. They messed up my order 3x between two visits. I ended up only complaining once then we asked for boxes for like 3 meals and they brought us one box. It was our cue to skip dessert and just leave.
The doubletree next door was fantastic. That was the best reccomendation our hotel made. They sent us over there for coffee and we continued to go back. Great everything over there and great staff. They even gave a list of things to do in the area and even provided us with coupons. We will stay there next time.
There are no bellhops to help you with bags or anything so you just have to carry them all up on your own by taking multiple trips without a cart.
None of the outlets are functioning aside from 1 or 2.
Went to the arcade. Was charged multiple times for games that weren’t functioning. The hotel did nothing. They told me to contact some third party that also did nothing. The arcade is IN THE HOTEL lol. Not even in a separate building. The third party put some credits on our card the NEXT DAY. Why did they assume we were still there or wanted to even go back for the couple of credits. They told us a refund would be issued. That was a lie.
I also wanted to order lunch from the hotel restaurant. I asked the front desk for the menu while I was on my way back to my room. They don’t have one. You have to physically go down to the restaurant to order. How ridiculous! I wasn’t feeling good so going back down to the restaurant to look at the menu wasn’t really an option. Ended up ordering DoorDash. This hotel’s policies don’t make any sense to me. Most places make things convenient so you can spend your money. They actually put you through hoops to spend your money. Makes zero sense.
My final straw with the restaurant. We wanted lunch and drinks. We waited in the area the sign said to wait, 5 mins. No one showed. We waited at the bar, 8 mins and the person said she would get some one for us. During this time another table finished theirs food. Another five minutes, this bartender shows up and can you believe they helped the other table that needed something within the past 2 minutes? They looked at us, took the other party’s card walked away AGAIN. We walked straight out. 20 mins for low traffic and no Lunch/drinks. What were they possibly doing? There were only 3 other people in...

Checked in Friday, Oct 18, 2024 Checked out Tuesday, Oct 22, 2024 Room 120
Purpose for our vacation was to celebrate my 60th birthday and our wedding anniversary.
Upon check in, I noticed a small piece of trash behind the front door as I closed it. Not a big deal, it looks like a piece of paper from some kind of packaging. We went straight to the bedroom to unpack our clothes and prepare for the weekend but first I had to check out our beach front view...Not! See photos. After unpacking, I moved the chair in the room to watch tv. I uncovered more trash which was a little irritating considering we were at the "Hilton". There was an empty sprite glass bottle, a plastic grocery bag and a bunch of down feathers. After resting a bit, I hopped into shower only to find that there was no shampoo or shower gel in the bottles on the wall. As I hop out of the shower, I notice more trash under the sink. Just an empty soap box and something unidentifiable. More irritation but I decided to let it go and enjoy a night out with my husband. Later that night, we noticed that the beds were full size and not the queen size beds we booked on the app. Again, not a problem but also not what we expected. Next morning, I notice that the surfaces in the kitchen were not clean...microwave is dirty and so is the fridge. Okay, now I'm kind of pissed! The eating utensils are filthy, the coffee cups are filthy, there is a glass that has a milk ring around the top of the inside. Considering we just got through a major worldwide pandemic, this was completely unacceptable! We normally do not allow housekeeping inside the room until we check out so we expect to have our room ready when we check in. There's more... found a sock, a piece of candy and more trash under the chair in the living room area and the bathroom fan blew out feathers when we turned it on. Train the housekeeper please!
So, for those of you that are contemplating a stay here, consider booking a room that is not oceanfront, check your rooms cleanliness and make adjustments if needed. Bring your own cleaning supplies if you need to use the kitchen and be aware that there are not paper towels provided. The jacuzzi tub may be nice for some but if you're older, it's hard to step into to take a shower. It also didn't work as it should. 3 of the 6 jets were not working. The front desk staff may be kind and courteous but they will not bring your shampoo.
To say the least, I pretty disgusted by the filth I experience in this particular room. Too bad, the suite was a...
