ish Boutique — Local services in Ocean City

I had to make an exchange after buying a dress on their website at the beginning in June, I called the store to see if I was able to bring it back they informed me that I was able to return it for store credit but didn’t say I had a time frame or anything. I went to ocean city this past weekend for the first time this season and had the return with me to get store credit, as soon as I walk in the door I’m rudely greeted by a younger women asking “are you making an exchange” to which I responded to yes and continued looking around the store. A minute later she comes over to me asking “so what’s the item your trying to exchange,” I said it was a dress I had bought about a month ago I just didn’t like how it looked on me because I’m on the thicker side and I pull it out and she’s like “unfortunately we don’t sell this anymore”. I responded okay but I bought it at the beginning of June, there was an older women who looked/seemed like she owned the shop and she’s like just give her store credit if they told her that on the phone then we have to honor it. I’ve been going here for 5years with my daughters. Now they’re all grown, I came down to OC on my own for fun this past August. I came twice in one weekend and the staff treated me so poorly. I could even hear one of their store managers making rude remarks of my clothes or hair. I never felt this way walking into a boutique. Decided to brush it off and asked the manager what their return policies are and she told me that if I finally decided to buy something she’d give me the return info card along with an email receipt with info on it as they would be closing soon. I told my daughters of my encounter and they were shocked too bc we used to have pleasant encounters. We all agreed to never step foot at Ish again or never recommend it as there’s a new boutique in Rehoboth along with others in Berlin. I also noticed their clothing selections this summer aren’t as favorable as the previous years I’ve been going. In the summer of 2024, I purchased a “permanent” bracelet, which was not sautered as tightly as it should have been. I was told I could come back and have it tightened. I spent a year being a careful as possible. Fast forwarding to 2025, I went in to have it tightened and it told it would cost $10. Fine. I sat while the bracelet was played with for 54 minutes for the owner to state that I stretched it (by snagging it on something) & they were not about to fix it. I asked her what the options were, as they are expensive, and SUPPOSED to be permanent. She stated I could “keep the bracelet” but there is nothing else they can do. It is sad considering that the women in my family do a beach trip yearly and visit the boutique.
