Everytime I come here, I'm overwhelmed at how hard working and amazing the vendors are! I always start with the Antique mall just to see if I can find any cute decorations which brought me to this store that had the cutest little Jester mugs. The first time I went, I only bought 1 and the lady at the counter was so sweet, I just knew I had to complete the collection! I can't remember the number but she has cute antique decorations, accessories, and kitchen items, making her my absolute favorite place to stop by in the Antique Mall.
Making my way over to the main building is always a delight because I know I'm going to spend a bit of money. I found this matcha spot in there which, I kid you not, makes the best matcha in OKC! She's not there every Saturday but she has her schedule on her IG, so I try to be there whenever she is to get a Banana Cream Matcha. Next, I'll have to get samples from as many vendors as possible. The Chicken sausage and Okra gumbo is so flavorful, I now buy a cup eachtime instead of sampling it.
There's a spot in there that sells bottled drinks (Lattes) and they are now staples in my home when I make at home matcha/lattes! The pistachio is probably my favorite but I've also had strawberry, banana, Kombucha, and one of the fruity teas. They're $8/$10 each so I only get one every other time I go to the Market.
My favorite food vendor is a tie between MawMaw's and Snibble's! MawMaw's has the best and biggest loaded baked potatoes I've ever had and their smoked brisket is just the cherry on top. The boys there are so motivated, I love seeing them get people in to sample their food, but it's even better when I see someone buy a meal based on the sample. Snibble's has a restaurant up in Spencer but their spot at the Farmers Market is the real deal. The guys there are so enthusiastic and warm - they'll bring you in by their energy but you'll stay because of how good their food is! I pretty much always buy a pack of their delicious, spicy Chicken...
ย ย ย Read moreI work many hours, and rarely get to go out. I was really excited to see my favorite band at a venue that was new to me.
My first time at the Farmer's Market, and my last.
The parking was abysmal, and while $3 for a beer is more than fair, $8 for a shot was a stretch.
I skipped the first two bands, but caught the whole act of the third group. The drummer was pretty good, and the two chick singer/guitarists were OK looking (at least from a distance) but even after 10 years of performing together this "band" reminded me of the cacophony you'd hear on a Saturday afternoon at a guitar store. I saw on the FB page of "The Oh Johnny Girls" that this was their farewell performance. In my opinion the world will be a better place for it.
RHH played awesomely, as always, but the acoustics in the room kept the sound man from being able to get a good mix; wood floor, metal ceiling, concrete walls and giant banks of multi-pane windows. The room reminded me of a junior high school gymnasium that was built in the 50's. The band was obviously frustrated at the poor sound quality of this room. From the comments they made from the stage to the sound crew and to the audience I'm sure they won't play this venue again, and I don't blame them. They only played for an hour and five minutes. Of the many times I've seen them, this was the shortest by far.
I will not be attending any more concerts at this venue, but hope to make up the loss by catching RHH in a couple months at Cain's in Tulsa. Despite similar architecture and acoustics, I've never seen a show there with such poor technical organization as this. Plus, the Tulsa show is $5 cheaper, and although it also is scheduled to be a 4 band marathon, the supporting bands are recognizable national touring acts instead of weak struggling...
