Smitty Park — Attraction in Oklahoma City

I visit this park often. I love it for a morning or evening walk or run or just to let the kiddos play. I recently held a gender reveal here and had a blast. It was convenient to use the picnic tables up by the playground so the attending children could play and have some open space down by the track for other activities. Wonderful little neighborhood park. Great pavilion for a kids birthday party today. Clean, well maintained and quiet. Nice newer playground and swing set that could accommodate most anyone.

My dad told me a story about Smitty Park that I thought the neighborhood would like. The park is named after a local man, Coach Smith, or “Smitty,” who was a much beloved baseball coach to the neighborhood boys. He passed away in the early 1960s in a bad car accident.
