I absolutely love the concept of this place—it’s fresh, unique, and full of potential. But, oh boy, do they have some kinks to iron out. Imagine signing up for a paint-and-sip class, only to find the painting already finished for you. All you have to do is walk up, sign your name in the corner, and call it a masterpiece. That’s basically what happened here, except with bread. Yes, bread.
We eagerly signed up for what we thought would be a hands-on bread-baking class. You know, the kind where you dive into the nitty-gritty of yeast activation, kneading dough, and working your way through the magic of bread-making. Instead, we walked into a setup where the most "hands-on" part of the experience was shaping some pre-made dough and popping it into the oven. Voilà! Chef for a day—kind of.
Apparently, the class had been running over time in the past, so the instructors decided to cut a major corner—making the actual dough. For $100+ a person, I was expecting a full bread-making boot camp, not a "Shape & Bake 101" demo. I mean, if I just wanted to watch someone make dough, I could’ve stayed home, opened YouTube, and saved my hard-earned cash!
The instructor, to their credit, was a delight—super engaging and funny. But halfway through the class, they realized they’d skipped a couple of critical steps. Cue the collective confusion as we all tried to figure out how to fix the process. While it didn’t completely derail the bread (thankfully, carbs are forgiving), it did make the experience feel a little... scrambled.
In the end, the bread turned out fine, and we had a few laughs, but if you’re someone who dreams of starting from scratch and learning every step of the process, this might leave you comically disappointed. Here’s hoping they refine the experience because the concept has so much potential! Additionally note to management when you were in the classroom area at the workstations, look up! The vents above the workstations are absolutely disgusting clearly they are not being cleaned regularly I've worked in many restaurants over my lifetime and usually a third party comes in to clean those grease vents especially if the employees themselves are not doing it which is clearly the case here. There was layers of thick dust and grime above everyone's head where we were making this bread because of a lack of attention to cleanliness and details. Check out the pictures below to see the charcuterie of thick dust lingering above...
Read moreWe had such a terrible experience on December 28th, 2024 that we will never go back. Would give it zero stars if that were an option. Also, we have emailed the store and the corporate office 6 different times with no response.
The problems stemmed from cleanliness and attention to detail. Here is what we had issues with:
This was a surprise for my wife for our 22nd wedding anniversary. I told her we were making chocolate croissants because that's what the class description said. I was disappointed that the chef just decided to do something different just because they felt like it. I would think that if something is specifically promised during the class, it should be available.
Multiple groups were handling the same food. One group of six adults was made up of three different parties. This means they had six people plus the chef touching and handling all the food. In the past when we took classes, the groups were party-specific. That allowed control over who was touching the food and if you were a party of two, you were the only people touching your food.
The chef did not stress the importance of hand washing. While she did mention it at the very beginning, she did not remind people throughout the class to continually stay clean. People would put their hands in their pockets, touch their phones, and even touch food without washing their hands afterward.
The chef was not sanitary. I lost count of the number of times that she scratched her nose, wiped her nose, scratched her mouth, scratched her head, or touched her face, and then immediately touched the croissant dough.
Online the class stated that it would take two hours. We had other things scheduled today and were informed that it was a three-hour class when we arrived. We were not able to stay for the entirety of the class.
We did not want to sample the food we prepared. While everything smelled delicious, we did not want to eat the food due to the sanitary concerns listed above.
Overall, I would rate this a very poor experience. I do not believe cleanliness and attention to detail is too much to ask for a cooking class. We...
Read moreI think the store itself is so lovely! Fun to browse and the staff there is always so friendly. I'm giving them 2 stars because of the cooking class. I had previously taken a one a few years back with a group of 6 and it was a wonderful experience for all of us. The instructor was engaging, charismatic, clear with instructions and happy to answer all our questions. I took the pasta making class last Friday and was very disappointed with the drastic difference in experience we had. Our instructor didn't even introduce herself, her tone was very soft, hard to hear in a busy kitchen. Instructions were not very clear. We felt rushed like they wanted us out of there. Also, now classes email you the recipe which I personally do not like. I prefer to have the printed recipe in front of me, read it all and then proceed. It would have made it much easier to follow along. I called them the next day, Saturday because I had not received the emailed recipes yet. Staff said she would be emailing them out by the afternoon. Nothing....I called again on Tuesday spoke with another staff member and he immediately got it emailed to me within minutes. Very disappointed with the cooking class overall especially since my mother was looking forward to pasta making and our superb experience before. I will still be going to shop from the store but most likely not attend a cooking...
