I just saw Kimberly Akimbo at Olathe Civic Theater. I have seen 100s of non-professional theater productions over 50 years and volunteered as a stage manager for many of them, and this production has the finest acting I have ever experienced. The actors, director and the other tech people had a wonderful work of literature to present, and they did it proud. I also see many professional theater productions, including in New York and London, and this production equaled all that I have ever seen. There were about 30 people in the audience during my Sunday afternoon performance, but the actors gave their all, as if they were playing in a major theater on Broadway. This is probably the 8th production I’ve seen at OCT, and they have all been top quality...
Read moreIt's a low-key venue in what used to be an old and very pretty church, but it's precisely that low-key quality that makes it so charming and endearing and that enhances its true "community theatre" feel. The plays are good, the price great, and there are no bad seats: it's a small venue and all the seats are close to the stage.
