Tacos El Viejon — Restaurant in Olathe

Not sure if this restaurant is still working the details out, but our experience last Friday was just terrible. *No prices (that we could find) while ordering at the counter. *Didn’t really make a difference tho, because the front cashier did not speak English and she had to fetch someone else to translate. *We settled on something safe: steak tacos, but my first 3 bites were inedible grizzle. No seasoning detected, and the corn tortillas were so hard or old we couldn’t finish them. *No silverware apparently, plastic or otherwise. I even looked at other diners who were eating without silverware. *Very limited choices for draft beer, they had few if any of the advertised drafts so I had water. *We’d hoped the chips and salsa might save the day but, you guessed it, they forgot to bring it out. By the time we choked thru the tacos, I relocated the earlier translator for a refund on the chips & salsa, but alas no one knew how to refund a credit card. I suggested (twice) to refund me in cash ($4.98 + tax) and learn the refund process on their time. Summary: The food that we had was terrible, the service was non existent, and the experience was an eye opener. We love authentic Mexican food and rarely speak up when things aren’t up to specs, but we won’t be returning here when there are so many more/better...

I took my friends here the other day and the service was horrible we placed our order at the same time and only one was served and we had to wait another 10 minutes before getting my order and my other friend. The order overall was delayed to begin with These are street tacos. Ok now with the food itself I guess because it's taco Tuesday the portions were redcoulusly small we looked at each other and was like we should have went to Bonito Mchoacan. So I called yesterday and was going to speak w the supervisor they put me on hold for 10 minutes because the person did not speak English someone finally came on line and I asked for the supervisor and she said Paulo or Paula When I ask what day or what time she's going to be there, the lady hung up on me. I didn't want to place this review because I've been there before and I know how good is the food when it's served properly but those people need to get it together over there. If you are an American speaking English customer and don't speak Spanish I would caution you to think about...

I wanted so badly to like this restaurant based off of their menu, but I just didn’t. It started with the cheese dip. You pay $6 for a tiny bowl that’s barely big enough for one person. I ordered the quesabirria tacos and I liked them okay but the fajitas were simply not good. I am used to fajitas that are heavy on the meat with veggies added in, but their fajitas were essentially a bed of onions with literally 6strips of meat placed across the top. The flavor of the fajita chicken was simply not good. The 3 strips of steak meat was the best part of the dish and it was just okay. The rice was a plate of dry mush…it was weird. As for the atmosphere, flies everywhere! I couldn’t take a bite without shooing a fly away. It was annoying and kind of gross bcuz if it’s that way in the front of the house, what’s it like in the kitchen?? I doubt we will visit this restaurant again.
