I don't get here too often because I no longer live in Olathe but I really enjoy shopping at this "Price Chopper" owned grocery store when I happen to be in the area. The prices are very competitive... The majority of their everyday prices are outright lower then any other local grocery, save Aldi's, but this grocery stocks all the mainstream brands and have the best produce outside of a farmers market. One of the biggest complaints is that they don't take credit cards. But, that archaic policy is long, long gone. Granted, the bagging is still the responsibility of the shopper. They do provide a seemingly endless supply of decent quality paper/plastic bags for us to use at no additional charge. My Grandmother, literally, can't get enough of these strong plastic bags. She'll just take an entire ream of bags if she's with me...so very embarrassing but they have never said anything when she "steals" them. They smile and/or laugh. I could go on for a while on the perks of this underrated grocer but I'll close with one of the main reasons I enjoy this grocery. They have a great ad every single week, but it's the amazing unadvertised manager's specials that I find myself searching for. Think an Easter egg hunt for oddball foods that are rarely ever on sale anywhere else. One of many possible examples: Peanut Butter No-Bake Cookies for $1.49! The same brand but chocolate version sell for ~$5-$8 anywhere else and that's "IF" you ever see them. I've never have, let alone for that...
Read moreThis is the worst grocery store in Olathe right down there with Dollar General in price, service and cleanliness. Yes they have the same staff since the original store. They are rude, abusive and openly racist. They have a huge variety of Hispanic products and then thier 95% white staff are rude to the Hispanic customers. They now have 4 self service lanes, only two work and they have a person looking over your shoulder and glaring at you as you scan your items. I should gave taken a picture. Then we have your two over worked, under paid checkers glaring and talking under thier breathe to anyone who is not Lilly white like them. I actually witnessed a cashier yell at a Hispanic women who didn't have enough for her dairy products because she will now have to put them back..it was awful..she looked at me as she was berating her for support and I mouthed..."thats what you get paid for"..needless to say she shut down her register after that!. I never go here...I don't know what I was thinking!!! We need a new no frills market in Olathe not owned in any way by the consentinos or balls union...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews, but when customer service is this good, it deserves a spotlight! Every time I shop at Payless Foods, I walk out feeling like I’ve just visited family—only the kind that makes sure you leave with everything you need and a smile on your face.
Tatiana, Donna, Pam, and Cindy are the real MVPs of the store. Their energy is warm, their attitudes are positive, and their commitment to helping customers goes above and beyond.
Tatiana brings the kind of enthusiasm that makes you feel like your visit matters. Donna is calm, collected, and knows the store inside-out.
