One Star for Nostalgia, -4 for the Cold Crab Rangoon
Ah, Mongolian Buffet on Santa Fe in Olathe — our old flame. We’ve been dining here since flip phones were a thing and “Gangnam Style” wasn’t even a blip on the cultural radar. For two decades, this place was our go-to spot for egg rolls, hot tea, and leaving with a plate stacked higher than our expectations.
But lately… let’s just say the wok has lost its sizzle.
First, the food temperature now ranges somewhere between “mid-February garage” and “straight-from-the-fridge.” Cold sesame chicken? I didn’t know it was a gazpacho concept. And while I’m adventurous with my palate, I’m less into playing Food Safety Roulette with every bite.
Speaking of safety — let’s talk inspection reports. Actually, no, let’s not. I read one and needed to lie down. There are horror movies that have fewer red flags.
I held on longer than I should have. I told myself it was an off day. Then another. Then maybe it was just me. But when the lo mein tastes like lukewarm regret and the sushi looks like it wants to be anywhere else, it’s time to admit the relationship has changed.
Still giving one star for the memories — for the egg drop soup that once was, and the General Tso who used to be so reliable. But unless things turn around (with a thermometer and a visit from Gordon Ramsay), we’re officially...

The selection was impressive—there were numerous chicken dishes like General Tso’s, sweet and sour chicken, and spicy pepper chicken, all well-cooked and full of flavor. The buffet also featured fresh fish options, a solid salad bar, and a refreshing fruit section. For sushi lovers, there was a decent assortment that hit the spot.
Everything was hot and replenished regularly, and the buffet area was clean and well-lit. Staff was attentive, and you could tell they cared about keeping things fresh. Whether you’re craving crispy, saucy, or savory, this buffet has something to satisfy.
Definitely worth the visit if you’re in the mood for Chinese food and want plenty of choices without...
Read moreThe food is ok hit or miss. after what I seen today, Ill never go back. Today around 2:00 I witnessed a lady load a to-go box until it was heaping and couldnt close. When it says in bold print to-go boxes must close or extra charge. So with customers at the buffet and cashier, waitress watching her load.
She goes to pay and the cashier tells her the box must close or he'll have to charge her extra. The cashier, waitress watch her return the food from her box back to the buffet. Not like it wasnt gross her returning the food from her box once. But she went back to pay and it still didnt close so she returned to unload her box back onto the buffet with her hands. If thats not cross contamination, nasty. I dont know what is. And for the cashier, waitress to watch her and ok it says a lot. makes you wonder if they dont recycle the leftovers from our plates back onto the buffet for...
