I gave Olive branch public library a 2 stars rating for the following reason: 1- Staff seem to be bored with life, they won't greet vistors or smile and make them feel welcomed, except for head of library Mrs. Suzan, and the lady who does the story time and kids activitis ,they're the only 2 person who smile.
2-New hours really sucks, we need to keep our kids off the streets and away from the heat in summer, closing at 7pm really hurts the community. We have to drive our kids to Germantown public library which stays open till 930pm. 3- 1 or 2 person behind the service desk is sufficient to run this service desk, no need for 4 people behind the desk ,the library assist who just sits behind her assigned desk can jump in and help when it gets busy instead of just sitting there with not much to do Reallocate these extra hours you can save from having 4 or 5 people at the service desk and utilize them to have the library operate longer hours especially on the weekends Friday ,Saturday, Sunday instead of closing at 5pm or 6pm. 4-The 1st Parking lot row facing the library main entrance has a defective design, i have seen vehicles hitting the curb ,or run over it when parking, I also experienced this myself, almost damaged my front end suspensions and tier. This curb needs to be eliminated. Looking forward to see these changes...
Read moreIt was a very strange experience. Today was my first time visiting this library. My daughter has a very important project for school and we needed a few things typed and pictures printed . She bought her own laptop just in case. The lady at the front desk told us if we connected her laptop to their internet, we would be able to use their printer (Which was inaccurate) which is perfectly fine.
After giving up trying from my daughter's laptop, I noticed that the front desk lady was giving many others a "GUEST PASS". We were never offered that option, as we could have been finished a while ago. So I went back to the desk and asked her why we weren't offered the guess pass and she said "She was trying to avoid us paying" but the fee was ONE DOLLAR.🤣
So I wanted a library card and she asked if I was a resident of Olive Branch. I whipped out my license and my voters registration card. Got my library card and did what we had to do. All I'm going to say is don't let anyone's looks fool you about where they live. I OWN my own home here and I am definitely a resident. So looks like I will be dropping by more often me and my beautiful family who were stared at half the time. I know we are a young black family and isn't seen often but it's rude to stare. I will let this one experience slide but I will not be disrespected...
Read moreIt's has been way to long since I have been here. Just walking in the doors put a big smile on my face. The only reason that I went there was because my printer has run out of ink. I have more ink on order, but I had to have a shipping label printed Today..I found out that you can send in copies that need to be printed on line (convenient) , and they still only cost a quarter. I found shelves of current hardback novels by best seller writers for sale for $1.00 to $1.50. Racks and racks of free Current DVD movies available for a 7 day check out. A very long desk of computers are available for free use. I'd estimate about 20 computers. If you haven't been to the library in a while, I strongly suggest that you go and take your kids or grandkids. They'll have a blast. They even have jigsaw puzzles that you can check out and take home. A fun free day in a cool air-conditioning atmosphere. I usually only comment on restrooms at restaurants and even then if they're filthy. But here are the library the restrooms are spotless and smell...
