Be sure it all works before you leave!!!! Worse than a pawn shop as you buy it YOU OWN IT!!! Bought a monitor from them. Female clerk said if it did not work, just bring it back for exchange. Ok, sounds good. Well, got home, plugged in and a wonderful BLACK screen and in this case, black is not beautiful at all. Called the store and the same clerk said come on back. AND of course when I got there, she was out to lunch. So convenient. Keep in mind, MY receipt that I kept and not bad for a guy to remember keeping a receipt, said all refunds done within 7 days with receipt and it had the current date and only 90 minutes old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Told the different guy my situation and picked up a different monitor of the same price. He said that will be so and so dollars???????? huh??????? my receipt says exchange????????????? he points to a small sign behind something that says all sales final????????? Not in my book as my CURRENT AND UP TO DATE LAST MINUTE receipt says exchange. I was getting scammed and conned at the same time. Now if the monitor was a $2, ok, take my chance, but it was not and much higher. We went round and round and round. Finally the guy that runs that store comes back and no problem with exchange and they would change policy. Told him to reduce prices if the store was going to continue to sell for more that a few bucks as the stuff was now AS IS AND THE 50/50 WARRANTY................ IF IT BREAKS, I GET BOTH HAVES..... worse than the pawn shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This time I made sure the monitor worked before I left. I was not trying to cheat anyone and if the monitor failed after a month, ok, my error, but to have it not work at all and be told no exchange when the receipt in my hand said exchange in 7 days?????????????? Not right and just bad. This was my horrible experience with these guys. Current monitor works fine and have gone back to purchase other items. I asked the store manager why receipt said one thing and a small hidden sign said something else????? At least he did not try to flimflam me, and said he did not know but would be changed very soon. Failed to look at my receipts as of late since my purchases were not significant enough to worry about...
Read moreThe attitude and the behaviors of these employees is deplorable. But I totally understand why the employees are this way because the manager is this way . I went to Good Bytes in Omaha today- they had a game that the manager stated that he had marked down to $93, just today-
Still GROSSLY OVERPRICED!
I, respectfully, asked for a discount to $85 Plus tax. After dealing with the very rude cashier who continually rolled her eyes at me and initially ignored my request to speak to a manager- she was extremely dismissive.
This EXTREMELY used game was going to need to be resurfaced and the case was broken and dirty- Thus the reason I asked for a discount and he refused - and when I mentioned the condition of the used, donated item, he immediately started cursing at me that he was sick of people asking for a discount - Maybe the theme, and similarities in those requests was that this item was obviously overpriced, and the ridiculousness in parasitic practices are not to be ignored by when people are bringing this to their attention. But the fact that other conversations caused his dismay, I felt, was unacceptable to be taken out on me during our first conversation concerning this item. He told me he didn’t give a damn that they get them for free, and the whole 9 yards - The level of disrespect unyielding. Do better Goodwill, especially when we have spent, literally, hundreds of dollars on electronics in that same store and have never asked for a...
Read moreEver wish you could go to a Goodwill but pay Ebay prices? Then this is the place for you!
Seriously, look, I know Goodwill does good work, but charging the prices they do here for games they've received for free really rubs me the wrong way. They aren't a used game store that has to pay money out for its stock, and being told we should be okay paying "fair market price" for what they have goes against everything Goodwill has ever been about. Game stores will be selective about what they do or don't take in to make sure their products fit the prices they're given, but that obviously doesn't happen here. (For example, as of my writing this, they're charging ridiculous prices for Atari 2600 games that are in abysmal shape.) Also, the overall lackluster selection of titles makes me wonder if the better games that come in aren't being sold elsewhere (like online).
GoodBytes neither gives you the prices of Goodwill nor the quality control of used game stores, and the result is a store that satisfies neither clientele. I've gotten some great finds over the years when this Goodwill was across the street and it was an unassuming little store that wasn't trying to be big and fancy. Those days are gone, so go to any Goodwill store BUT this one and hope they haven't cannibalized their stock to...
