The Cordial Cherry — Attraction in Omaha

Cordial Cherry’s treats and packaging are always great.

The short of it: The process of ordering and picking up made me regret investing the time to get these products each step of the way. I hope they clean up their process because it was disjointed, oddly formal and deeply impersonal.

The long of it: This was my first time visiting since the pandemic started and I was surprised by how disappointing their service is given that we’re more than a year into the pandemic. I arrived at the store hoping to window shop but they had a sign outside which said to order on their website. Unfortunately their website was not listed and there was no QR code. When I got to it through a Google search i was surprised at how dated and mobile unfriendly the website design is. I placed my order and chose “local pickup” as instructed by the sign and left to shop at some cute nearby stores. When I arrived back at CC about 30 minutes later, I opened the door and told the representative my name assuming it would be like a regular to go order pickup. She asked if I texted my order number which I figured I wouldn’t need to do because I was there in person and she could look it up. So I stepped away and texted. Then I went back to the front door to pick up. She was kind but it was stressful because she was on the phone the entire time I interacted with her (they should have more than one staff person on Mother’s Day weekend). I got my order in the end and the product quality was good but am planning not to return until in-store shopping...

The chocolates were beautifully decorated exactly as advertised. Unfortunately they seemed to be covering older decorated chocolates. Very disappointing. They seemed stale. If the inside of the chocolates were as good as the packaging I would have definitely given five stars. There was a great attention to the details on the chocolates as well as the careful packaging. They were wrapped better than fine china. I had such high hopes for them. For the cost it was such a let down. I have purchased Moonstruck chocolates for similar prices and have not been disappointed with the taste and quality of the chocolates. However The Cordial Cherry chocolates are a better presentation and the details are lovely. But again the beauty far surpasses the quality and taste of the chocolates. They were overly sweet and grainy in texture. Not the smooth creamy texture I was expecting. Also I should qualify this, I am rating the decorated truffles. The cordial Cherries are wonderful...

I purchased a number of items (cordial cherries, truffles and Easter Robin eggs).

Nailed it with the packaging. The cordial cherries are consistently amazing. The way everything is decorated is impeccable.

The truffles were consistent in being dry and a little gritty. I would not recommend them.

The Robin eggs were supposed to have marshmallow in the middle but the marshmallow either had a hardness akin to a malt ball, or had dissolved so that it was weirdly chewy and one of them had a flavorless sugar element that had to be chewed for over a minute before it was dissolved. I would not recommend these either.

I also had gone in for one thing that was advertised on their website and I was informed that the season for those ended earlier in the month....okay but then they were still advertised on the website...?

So I'm giving The Cordial Cherry 3...
