23 Grand Lodge Collins Lake Resort||We stayed here with another couple and a child. There was plenty of room for all of us. Checkin is at 4 pm, checkout at 11 am. They will set up a lock box if you are arriving after 5 PM. ||It is pet friendly. You have to go down 1 1/2 flight of stairs to reach the nearest pet potty area. Those have doggie poop bags and receptacles. ||We had a hard time keeping this unit under 75 degrees even with a blizzard outside. We set the thermostat at 69 and left the fireplaces off. We ended up having to open windows. ||Only one window had blinds in the master. No blinds in the front window by the door or in the windows looking out the back balcony. The unit is very quiet. I couldn’t hear people upstairs. ||Not a lot of seating in the main/front TV room. Only one loveseat and two chairs. ||No TV in the queen bedroom. The closet had a lot of extra pillows. The master closet is walk in and had extra blankets as did the drawers in the kid bedroom. ||Kid bedroom has a TV, Wii and trundle bed. ||No cleaning supplies for just wiping a counter down or removing a stain in the carpet. ||The WiFi logged us out every night. It was annoying to have to log back in. Otherwise it worked ok. ||Nice kitchen with everything we needed. We brought Tupperware, ziplock bags and foil. The back balcony has a bbq we didn’t use. We couldn’t find the switch for the patio lights. ||Wood floors were dirty even though we did not wear shoes in the house. Wiping with a paper towel came up dirty. Bring house shoes. ||The unit comes with pool towels. The pool is in a building across from the lodge. The pool is warm and there is also a hot tub and sauna. ||They allow for two cars in the parking garage per unit. It seems some abused that because there were no guest spots when we came back after skiing. We complained but the office said they would check it out but we had to leave a car outside overnight. They only provide two keys per unit. They are actual keys vs keycards. ||Amenities included shampoo, conditioner and soap. I don’t remember seeing lotion or body wash. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Each bathroom had a full size hair dryer. No magnifying mirrors. ||There is an elevator from the park garage and they have luggage carts to use. ||The office in the pool house opens around 10:30 am so if you need something earlier, you have to go to the office by the townhomes about 1/4 mile down the road. With the VIP card you can get discounts on ski tickets and more if you buy at the office. It was also very convenient to have the shuttle stop right there. It’s very close to Ski Bowl West but not ski-in. You have to...

Read moreWe stayed in the Grand Lodge for three nights. The office staff had Covid and was not able to check us in or answer the phone for most of the weekend. While this is understandable in these times, the resort needs a backup plan, especially if it advertises itself as a resort and charges resort prices. When we arrived, our HVAC was blowing warm air and the room was 82 degrees. This was disappointing because it was our wedding weekend, and with all the logistics we were balancing, the hotel was the last thing we wanted to have to stress out about while getting married. The lodge was one thing we splurged on so that we would be extra comfortable. For a mere $2,600, we were made rather UNcomfortable. When maintenance was not able to fix the AC, we were not offered a new room and had to deal with the heat all weekend. Maintenance did bring a portable AC unit, but it was very noisy to sleep with and only covered 1 room. We continued calling the office and after hours line repeatedly and were offered no solutions. At one point I was told that the manager would call back in 10 minutes, but it didn't happen. Aside from the heat debacle, there were several other disappointing aspects of the weekend. I usually expect resorts to be well equipped, but we weren't even given a sponge to wash dishes with. Bathrooms had 1 small piece of soap to be shared between sink and shower. Last, there was a power outage on Monday throughout the whole town, and it would appear that the Grand Lodge has no generator. Even the exit signs were off. Along with several other guests, we stumbled into the pitch black parking garage to leave the hotel with our phone flashlights on, only to find that maintenance still hadn't arrived to manually open the parking garage door. Talk about feeling trapped! While we were refunded a small amount of our stay in the end, it was nothing compared to stressing out when we just wanted a peaceful and romantic wedding night spot after the big day. To top it off, we were told the manager would call us at 9am this morning, but it still hasn't happened. Unbelievable. We run 2 Airbnbs and we are familiar with what it takes to make guests happy....
