Worst experience ever! I decided to come here to support a local/family owned business to make some prints of my artwork which in return turned into a nightmare. I asked for 3 prints to be made 18x18 inches with a 1" white border around it so I can sign them since they've been sold already. He tells me no problem they're not backed up so it should be 2 days. I never hear from them so I contact them on the 4th day and he's says "sorry we can't do prints that size cause your piece isn't a perfect square it'll have to be 18x24 not 18x18 inches." I'm okay with that, I wish they would of just told me sooner instead of 4 days afterwards while I still have the clients waiting to get their prints. So I go in a few more days later and see the prints are done. There's NO 1" inch border on it he told me he'd do. So instead of correcting it he offers a discount price. I'm not happy cause it's not what I ordered but take it anyways cause I'm already late on shipping them out. As I'm walking to my car leaving the store, I notice all the prints have ink smears/blotches on them. I return and show them and they agree to reprint them. I stress the urgency that I need them done by the next business day. So I went in yesterday to get the prints and 2 are printed on the paper I chose, and he says "here's one on canvas, it's more expensive but I won't charge extra." I'm thinking "I didn't ask for it to be on canvas, we agreed on the paper to print it on, which is the paper I told the clients it'll be on. Why change the order on only one of them, and why change the order at all?!?" Still, I keep my cool and say whatever. At least there's a border. Then I look at the prints and notice the bottom left corner isn't even cropped correctly. You can see the end of the canvas of the painting with his office in the background of the print! Instead of correcting it, he says he'll have to charge me again!!!! FOR HIS MISTAKES! It's like ordering a Big Mac, and it has crap on it then when you tell them they try to charge you for another one. After arguing for 15 min. of him refusing to fix them without me paying twice he just asks for my card to refund the price of the prints but still kept his $20 scanning fee. Now I'm almost 2 weeks late on shipping these prints to my clients, short $20 basically paid him to screw everything up, and I have low quality prints with ink blotches all over them with a view of his office in the background. Unbelievable, bad business ethics. Go...
Read moreI needed my block print framed. It had been two years since I received my carefully chosen original block printed piece from Mokuhankan Prints in Japan. I was excited to finally get it framed. I entrusted my print with them that was protected in its original packaging. As soon as it was finished I took it home and had a good look at it and noticed that there was a slight kink in the print. No worries, I thought, I am sure they will make it right. Was I wrong. I met with the owner and received a hard no compromise offer of $100 for a print that cost me $300 plus the shipping cost from Japan and the framing cost of $128. Totaling roughly $465. To add to the confusion the print was also not framed as instructed and the print border was cut to fit in the undersized frame. A big no no, right? I wanted it framed with the Japanese lettering on the sides and with the top cut off that would make it aesthetically impossible. The owner offered me a $35 dollar print from Etsy, knowing well (I would hope) that it was not an original woodblock print, on top of that made it seem like I was hard to please because I would not accept this as a possible solution. After much haggling back and forth, taking several days, in the end was offered $375, after more back and forth It ended mournfully with $300 and I kept the frame. I lost money, ended up letting go of a print that was near and dear to my heart and was treated horribly. I cannot emphasize enough how disrespected I felt as a customer, how I was talked too and how much of a battle it was to get under compensated for...
Read moreI love this art store. Its the best art supply store i have been to in the provo and salt lake city area. I recently went to a blick store in salt lake thinking it would be a large art supply store and it was so tiny and not great selection. I had not realised I had a a much better store available right here in Orem. Year's ago the selection was limited but my goodness it has grown. If they don't carry it, you can usually order it, which I like to do to support local business. My orders have taken less than two weeks to arrive. Usually a week. The gentlemen running the store are always so helpful. If you really love a specific brand or product, let them know because, I've mentioned what I was looking for in the past and later they ended up being on their shelves. So they do listen to what people are asking for. Most things are reasonably priced. Especially for a brick and mortar store. They carry a lot of my favorite brands: Derwent, Faber castell, steadtler, arches, shminche, holbein. And even cheaper brands are available like Reeves, royal and langnickle, art alternatives. The store has a good online catalog so I can discover what their prices are before if even get there. Sets of things can be a bit expensive in the store but where this store really shines is their prices on open stock items. If you only need one pencils to replace in your color pencil set, it's cheaper here than online. Same with a lot of their paints...
