These guys put me out $120 for nothing.
I brought my laptop in to have them diagnose a screen issue I was having. Took a few days longer than expected, but as compensation they didn't charge me for the diagnosis so they have, at least, that going for them.
What is less forgivable, in my opinion, is the situation they put me in the next time I worked with them, a month or so later. I had finally decided to bite the bullet and ordered a new panel (screen) for my laptop (their technicians had confidently assured me on two occasions that the issue was, in fact, the panel, and not the considerably more expensive GPU), and brought it in to let them install it for me.
I was very clear, when I brought the part in, that I had ordered it off of Amazon and intended to send it back if the repair didn't take. Imagine my delight when I arrived the next day to pick up my laptop and learned that not only had the replacement not solved my issue, but the older panel had been irreparably damaged during the process. Suddenly I was left with the choice of either having a (somewhat) functional screen or getting my money back for the part.
It seems that the panel that came with my laptop had been glued in at manufacture. An unusual feature, certainly; so unusual, one might say, that I probably should have been notified before the technician proceeded to rip it out (I wasn't). It is true, of course, that I believed the panel needed replacing, and if it had resolved my issue I wouldn't be writing this review now.
But I accepted their (very) confident diagnosis that my panel needed to be replaced, and this is the only reason I ordered the part in the first place. Even considering that confidence, I say again: I made it clear that the part would be sent back if it didn't take. Seemingly no precautions were taken in spite of this instruction. I am forced to conclude that my repair was rushed, and it seems eminently clear to me in retrospect that my diagnosis was as well, or else it would have been obvious that my GPU was faulty and not the panel.
Two stars instead of one, because they had the good sense not to charge me for losing me $120. But it seems clear to me that PC Laptops is more concerned with efficiency and churning through the repair queue than they are with treating your...
Read moreI’m not normally one to write reviews but here I am. I took my laptop in because it was throwing memory errors. They told me it would take a day or two to repair. A week and $214 later I took home a computer and foolishly didn’t think to try and start the laptop up in store. I got home and it didn’t work so I took it back and showed them it still wasn’t working. They took it back and today I received a call saying that the error it was could only be fixed if they replaced my hard drive but the error would occur again at some point or if I sent it into hp to get them to fix it which they advised against. So I told them not to do anything and had my dad go pick it up because I was unable to retrieve my still broken laptop at the moment. He went and since the laptop wasn’t working demanded that they issue me a refund well somehow there was now a third option that would fix the error entirely but they advised against it because it would wipe the computer memory. My father told them to do it which they kept trying to say not to do because I would lose my downloads and anything saved to my computer. He again told them to do it and asked why this option wasn’t given to me and they said it was because they didn’t think I would be interested since the memory would be wiped. So this means that I was lied to and cheated through this whole process and they didn’t trust me to make a decision about my own computer but hey it’s finally fixed and I’m out by nearly a month’s pay. Disappointed and will not return to a place that lied to me several times just so they could line their own pockets. I’ve edited my review up a bit because they did call and apologize and offered to refund if I removed my review but I will not remove it because I feel people have a right to know what happened and what could happen for them but the fact that they reached out and seemed like they wanted to help restores a bit more faith in them but I still would not trust them with my laptop again the situation is incredibly confusing and maybe it was just a misunderstanding or miscommunication but I’m still upset that...
Read moreIn short, the store Manager, Adam is/was freaking AMAZING and made the PC Laptops catch phrase "We Love You!" True. In depth, I brought in my little old lady computer, (She's 7, which I'm pretty sure is 108 in computer years) because I was having issues with the graphics card. Blue dots across the screen and games were showing weird, magnified and stretched. I had tried everything I could and then decided it was time to bring her in. When they ran the diagnostic, EVERYTHING was "too old", with the exception of three parts, those were "failing". I asked what could be done with my warranty and they told me they could replace the parts with same but new parts and that might help. I knew I was pushing my luck with my computer just being so darn old. Adam called and let me know that the biggest problem was my hard drive, being a mechanical vs solid state. I asked if upgrading to the solid state was possible and if it would help. Adam said he could and that it would help. Unfortunately, with the age of my computer and it's parts, one thing after another would fail as he tried to upgrade and fix, change something, and fix. It was a ridiculous amount of work that needed to be done. Adam took on my sad old lady computer and worked hard to get her up and running, with new"er" parts. Power supply, motherboard, graphics card and so on. Basically giving my old lady a fancy new hip replacement! They really took to heart their cheesy catch phrase "We love you!" and made it true for me! I knew I was in good hands when I bought my computer so many years ago, but they have continued to impress me with their true concern and care for their customers. Adam kept me posted and was ridiculously cool and did all the extra things he didn't have to but did! I told him it made me want to cry serious ugly happy tears because of all the work they did on my old lady! Seriously, Adam is amazing and PC...
