Update July 2024 It's been about two months since it started, and the stench issue is still not resolved. I'm baffled how they haven't come up with some way to address this. They haven't swapped to disposable dishes where possible, they haven't moved the necessary dishwashing to outside of open hours, they haven't even installed any kind of air freshener (the ultimate irony being that half the tables have an ad for candles on them). One time I came in and they had a plumber present who was tapping directly into the sewage line IN THE DINING ROOM. Everyone had to clear out it was so unpleasant. The saddest thing is that on my most recent visit, the espresso machine was broken so I couldn't even get my normal coffee.
I have gone from visiting 2 or 3 times a week to 2 or 3 times a month, and with the persistence of this issue I may need to find another place entirely. Very disappointing, this was such a nice shop.
Update: June 2024 I've been here a couple dozen times now and always enjoy it. I'm dropping down to 4 stars however for an issue that's been present my last two visits. There is a terrible smell that pervades through the dining room. It seems like it's tied to the dishwasher. Idk if it's broken or if it just needs a clean, but it lets off a really unpleasant stench when it runs. Makes sitting on the far side of the cafe very unpleasant.
I've come here a few times when working remotely. This is probably my 2nd favorite cup of coffee in town (gotta shout out Rugged Grounds in Provo for my fav), but this is definitely my favorite place to work. Nice big dining room with plenty of seating and outlets to charge. It does have a college-age crowd and sometimes people get a little rowdy but 95% of the time it's super quiet and easy to focus.
The only food I've tried here is the BLT, but it's absolutely killer! I'd like to try more of the menu but it's such a damn good sandwich I always just...
Read moreMy families recent trip to this business was meant to be exciting. However, it was met with complete disappointment. The whole business was being ran by 12 year old's. (at least that's how they acted) We were the only customers in the store at the time of our arrival and departure. There were only 6 flavors of gelato which had no sign, no menu, no way of knowing which flavor. I asked the girl server "How can we find out the flavors?". She did not answer until we started asking for them one by one. When she scooped up our ice cream it was so hard for her that she literally could not get enough on the scoop and we got a few slivers of top layer gelato to fill our cup below the rim. Then we got a 3 layer pastry, which was hard and lacking in flavor. But the worst part about the experience wasn't the fact that I was charged an outrageous price for a few flakes of ice cream and a dried up cardboard pastry. No it was the attitude of the staff. I can't say much for the young boy because he didn't do anything at all. (lazy, unproductive) But the two girls were stuck-up, rude, completely brainless, and made negative comments about my family in whispers to each other. To sum this up, we were excited to try this place, but were very disappointed. And I hate to write a negative review, but 3 workers on a night with very little customers is ridiculous. one properly trained person could do that job. Also, teach your staff some respect, and how to scoop ice cream. As of right now I have no reason to return to this business establishment. (Update 05/13/2022: I do not plan to email the owner back, because I do not believe there is anything that can be done to make this right. Money back or Free Items doesn't change the attitude of the staff or the lack of competence from the business. Do the right thing the first time, teach the world it's ok to be kind, smart, and...
Read moreI have been visiting Ollie’s multiple times a week now since they opened. I did not know Ollie or any of their staff personally until my first visit. I say this to give some context to my larger than normal review.
As a fellow business owner I have experienced the hardship of starting and building a business. It is difficult to get everything right, train your staff, and on top of that even get customers to enter your building. Even more difficult than all of that is to create an inviting environment where customers enjoy returning not just for your product but for the experience. Ollie and her amazing team have done this to perfection.
From the first time I visited up to today (more than two months later) I have been welcomed with a smile and the team knowing my name. My wife and son visit often without me and have returned so impressed by the kindness and welcoming feeling of Ollie’s.
I suggest visiting Ollie’s with the desire to be treated like family. Get to know the staff. Stay for a while to see the smiles on customers who have been uplifted by a wonderful feeling of love and inclusion.
I owe Ollie but a big THANK YOU including my family and myself into the Ollie’s family. What you have created surpasses wonderful drinks and food items… Ollie’s is truly remarkable.
Thank you from your forever customer and...
