I was racially profiled at this location today and it felt horrible. I was only in the store to price check a tequila that I researched online but because I felt the staff thought my intent was theft I purchased the bottle anyway. The first gentleman approached me and my husband asking if we needed help and when I said no he continued to circle around the area so often that the brief moment were my husband's masked slipped down below his nose the same gentleman asked him to pull his mask up. There was another guy in the same aisle as us, who also was right in our area following us so hard that we had to step back to allow him to shop, we even suggested a top shelf bottle tequila in which he allegedly purchased but that guy disappeared and we never saw him check out, he seemed to be a secret shopper. As we approached the checkout we were literally surrounded with more workers the associate at the register in front was legit looking through my purse because I guess they thought I stole something. It left a complete bad taste in my mouth and I will be taking my business to a different Bunny's because no one who spends their hard earned money should be treated like a criminal because of the color of their skin and stereotyped due to me having on work clothes and a large purse. Attention to whomever reads this your staff needs to understand that not every BLACK WOMAN that shops with a LARGE PURSE is not there to steal. I'm a store manager and I don't run my store that way. Read moreI went to buy a specific Greek wine on Saturday Dec. 19th and I asked the gentleman at the wine desk for it. He looked it up and said we no longer carry it. So, I left. I decided to go the next day again. My cousin suggested another one not Greek. I saw a lane with a sign that said imported wines. I saw a variety of Greek wine. I put some bottles in my cart and I bought the ones my cousin also suggested. I was disappointed that the guy the day before didn’t suggest other Greek wines other than the one I had asked for. I proceeded to look fir beer in the coolers. I was trying to get a few that were on the top shelf but I couldn’t reach them. At that time, two make employees walked by and didn’t ask if I needed help so I didn’t bother with that beer. The gentleman in the cigar area was very nice and helpful so I bought a few cigars. I proceeded to checkout and at the end of the transaction which came to $300 the young man put items in a box. He didn’t say thank you or do I need help since the items I bought were many and heavy. I left disappointed with this place. My family has been in the liquor business since 1960 and I’ve worked in the stores from time to time. I’ve watched my father, uncles, and cousins gave that extra suggestion and help to customers. They would make their customers feel welcome and customers would feel like family. What has happened to this store? I have been ordering 1/2 barrels from this location regularly over the past four years and have not had a problem. Within the past month they cannot get stock on my regular beer. That's fine, but CALL ME as you promised if you are out of stock instead of me calling you and finding out on the day I'm supposed to pick it up that the order never came in. I understand that there can be supply issues and this is where you proactively communicating to your customer makes the difference between me continuing to do business with you or going to your competitor.
I cannot work with a vendor who has poor communication skills. Get it together!
UPDATE - 10/20/14 - The customer service manager assisted me at the store. While I was not able to get the 1/2 I wanted, they gave me a discount on a higher-end barrel they had in stock. That helped.
However, it bears noting that she was not given the whole story from her staff about what happened and luckily I had names, dates I called and a true recounting of the events. She did not argue with me and worked to make the best of the situation.
