When I first went into Avalon on which was on the 31st of March, I was welcomed by the clean environment. I was lost and had to ask customers who were regulars for advice on a situation and was recommended to speak to the counter people for “candle dressing.” Avalon can dress any candle that you see for $5. They can also make oils and baths. The person I got was Liza who is a very kind and positive soul. I’m so glad I got to pick her to do my candle dressing. She goes into detail about everything that she chooses for your candle. I LOVE Liza.
I went in a couple days after to get another candle dressed and pick up more items... however I wasn’t treated nicely. Especially by the owner(i assume he’s the owner? I saw mostly his face on Instagram. He’ has ginger hair). Unfortunately Liza wasn’t there to bring her kind energy for me in that day. There was this woman with a pixie haircut Marisa )and she would yank things out of my hands after she’d show me something and look very disappointed when I didn’t choose something she recommended. I was also getting pressured to hurry up and purchase when I’m trying to connect with things around me especially since it’s such a small store with lots of miniature items. About the owner, he just gave me an attitude for kindly asking if I can leave my items up by the front and just gave me weird looks. I was getting the, “Oh you don’t know anything about magic and just someone who looks like she doesn’t know what she’s doing” type look. I felt very uncomfortable. But he did eventually let me leave my items at the front
I couldn’t remember this girls name but I had a candle dressed from her (she has a lot of facial piercings.) and she wasn’t informative about the items she was putting in for my kindle but rushing everything and making it awkward.
Two days after (which is today) I came back in and Liza was there! And there was better people that I’ve never seen before that had positive energy. I had ANOTHER candle dressed BY liza and she was amazing as usual. She’s so very helpful and doesn’t judge no matter what you’re situation is.
I really recommend coming in when Liza is there. She’ll make your visit worth it. I wouldn’t recommend speaking to anyone else (besides this girl with green hair with dreads....
Read moreWhen we originally visited this store 8 years ago, we had nothing but good things to say about it. Good selection of product with a wide variety, original unique items, nice friendly service, and a quiet, peaceful shopping experience. Over time, our opinion has shifted downward a bit, due to bad experiences, more and more witchcraft and cult related products, and bad customer service experiences. It had gotten bad enough that we no longer go to this shop, we take our business elsewhere. Most of the employees are kind and informative, and we have had good interactions with them, but some bad apples spoil the bunch, and unfortunately, having to deal with bad customer service while spending our hard earned dollar here was just a big turn off. The prices have increased significantly over time, which is the prerogative of the shop and the owner, but we certainly do not find if fair for natural gifts. Stuff that is commercialized or from places like China, price increases are more understandable but we do not buy these things anyways. A lot of icon-based product, books, CD's, statues, etc come from China. Their return policy is the worst, and parking just plain sucks. The building is unique, an old house converted into commercial space, and the vibe inside can vary depending on the day, b/c a lot of traffic comes through, and if you understand crystals, you can understand how the vibe can shift depending on who is in and out of there. I would recommend Sacred Circle, Gypsy Apothecary over Avalon 10/10 times, even recommend Black Market Minerals (superstore) over this place now, which is not our favorite...
Read moreOkay. I've been going to this store for the better half of two years and usually, I am pleased, the staff was pleasant and the energy was good. But today was terrible. The OWNER of the store Mirada has the off putting energy of a snobbish elitist and upon walking in all I wanted to do was get out as fast as possible. The new hires are fine, they do what they can with what they know, but wow, i've never been treated so poorly before. It saddens me because you'd think in a shop full of crystals, you'd have a positive and good energy, unfortunately, all this place has is overpriced product with barely any info other than the generic, "this heals this, this is good for this," bit without ANY of the reasoning behind why it is believed the crystal does what it does. It is a good thing they give sage with their crystals because i'd never want to take something home from a person whose got the approachability of a poisonous water moccasin, and I sure as the sun will rise, will not be coming back again.
I'd rather buy my crystals online and risk getting ripped off then give this store ANYMORE of my money. Ultimately, i used to love shopping there. I don't know what has changed to make the place so off putting but whatever it is, i'm not the only one to notice. I've conversed with many over this place and have heard very similar stories about the owner and her personality.
The staff is great though, very sweet and kind, but that owner man... wow. You think someone dealing with spirituality and energy would be more loving, Pft. People like her are what give businesses dealing with the...
