Laura Reynolds Artistry Hair & Makeup Team — Attraction in Orlando

I'll update my review with photos when I get them from our wedding photographer but I didn't want to delay letting any brides looking for their HMUA know that they can confidently stop their search here! The Laura Reynolds Artistry Hair & Makeup Team is our one wedding vendor that was 100% perfect in every way, no notes.

I am the most indecisive person ever and took forever doing my research on HMUAs. It was so hard to find hair and makeup pricing that my bridal party was comfortable with, and I ended up choosing Laura Reynolds because they gave me the most reasonable quote, which I can't believe for the quality of work this team did. They also offered things other companies didn't, such as a touch-up kit, but I didn't even need it because my hair and makeup held up SO WELL, even in the Florida summer heat/humidity.

Nikki in particular was such a blessing - not only did she fit me in for a last minute hair & makeup trial the week before the wedding, but she made my dream bridal hairstyle work with my mother's 40-year-old flower crown veil when I was so worried I'd have to choose between one or the other. Nikki was also a pleasure to talk with and I felt bonded with her instantly during the trial, which helped to ease my nervous energy the day of the wedding, while one of my bridesmaids mentioned that she felt like Nikki read her early morning energy (AKA none) and appreciated that she didn't try to make small talk while she was still waking up, and I think this ability to read people is so valuable for a high stress day.

Then of course she is an absolute artist of her craft. I already mentioned this, but I can't believe how my hair and makeup held up. It was such a fun amazing night that I fell asleep without even taking my fake lashes off, and somehow they were solidly on there the next morning looking great?! My hair had a total of 31 bobby pins in it and wasn't going ANYWHERE even though I danced all night. I had told her my hair doesn't hold a curl well so I don't know what she did but I wish she could do my hair for every event because those curls fought off the Florida humidity all night and looked amazing the next day even after sleeping on them.

They were also incredibly efficient for the giant bridal party I had. Our photographer warned us hair and makeup usually goes over time but they didn't, even with offering touch-ups after lunch. Plus they're so dedicated to providing the best service possible that my one bridesmaid missed the last call for touch-ups and even though they were packed up and heading out, they paused and unpacked when I asked if they could add her lipstick (because she'd gotten her makeup done right before lunch and asked to have lipstick applied afterward). Meanwhile I ate a whole sub and didn't even need a lipstick touch-up! I don't know what they do to set their products but I'll never get over the staying power of both my hair and makeup.

I really cannot say enough good things about this team, and Nikki in particular. Every single one of my bridesmaids looked like a princess,and I couldn't be happier with how my own look turned out. There's not a single doubt you should have with booking the Laura Reynolds team for your wedding or any event. The best pricing, the kindest most talented artists, the accommodations of last minute requests, the dedication to making sure you love your look and it will last in the Florida heat/humidity...I can't get over how lucky I was to find this team.

I was very happy with my hair service, but NOT happy with my makeup service.

My makeup trial was set to be a couple of days before my wedding because I was an out of state bride, but my artist got into a car accident (totally not her fault), but my issue was with the way they handled this. She obviously couldn't make my trial time, so I said I wanted to cancel my makeup service if I couldn't do a trial because I am very particular about my makeup since I do my own on a daily basis. I was told I couldn't cancel and told I could do a trial with a different artist, but my original artist would be the one to do my makeup on the day of my actual wedding, not the one doing the trial(doesn't that defeat the purpose of a trial?). We worked something out for a trial with my actual artist the following day (causing me to miss things I had planned with my guests because it was either this or nothing in terms of having a trial). I'm including pictures of the makeup my artist did....absolutely horrid, please excuse the tear stream running down my face.

Forced to have my trial on a different day, otherwise I asked for sharp black eyeliner and that's what she did. Asked for heavy lashes Asked for very matte makeup and it was shiny Asked for glitter eyeshadow and idk what she did She didnt do mascara She rushed my trial

RESPONSE TO THE REPLY I RECEIVED 6/28/23:

I was willing to cancel the trial and service since my artist was in an accident, but you made it very clear you would not be able to remove the service from the contract as it was within the 30 day policy. When my sister communicated that I did not feel comfortable having the make up done without a trial, you then said you could reschedule my trial or have a different artist do my makeup for the trial, who would then provide notes to Jillian, since you wouldn't provide a refund for that service. Again, one artist is not like another, notes don't do anything. Makeup is an art, and no two artists are the same. Literally the whole issue was you wouldn't refund the service, period. This is what you told my sister. You said absolutely no refunds. Otherwise you wouldn't have needed to force Jillian to work after a near fatal car accident (this level of severity was certainly not mentioned, but it's convenient to say it in your google reply to make me sound unreasonable) and ruin my day in disney with the family. Jillian did a poor job on all bridesmaids makeup the day of my wedding as well. (Eyeliner not sharp, Blush looked purple because she mixed it with bronzer, Eyeshadow unblended, etc) I DID tell Jillian all of the things I did not like during my trial, and i was very polite about it. She said she would make note of that for my wedding day, but she made a point to say she didn't know of a way to get my makeup more matte and seemed frustrated with the changes I requested. In the end, she was unable to achieve the look I desired which ultimately lead me to decide to do my own makeup wedding day. No refund was given, despite us mentioning dissatisfaction...

I cannot begin to express how amazing my experience was with Laura. She went above and beyond for me and I will be forever grateful for the professionalism, friendship, and quality service I received.

Laura’s shining moment was when we were getting ready for my wedding. That afternoon, there was a storm and the power went off for over an hour (almost two) at my hotel. A bride’s worst nightmare. However Laura saved the day!! She helped create a calm environment, and asked my bridesmaids to shine their phone lights on me to at least get my make up done while we were with power. Laura was able to get in contact with my wedding coordinator and we were able to get a room at our venue to finish getting ready in. Being the amazing person she is, Laura drove myself and my bridesmaids to the venue so we could all make it in time. She even helped my bridesmaids with finishing touches with their hair because they weren’t able curl or style their hair at the hotel.

On a professional level, Laura made me feel like a real princess. She has done three hair and makeup services for me: a trail, wedding day, and a photoshoot session I did with my venue. She really understood my vision for how I wanted to look, and she was able to change anything I wasn’t sure about. She also helped give me hair and skin tips before my wedding to make sure I was ready for the day of. Every time she did my hair and make up I felt so beautiful. The first time I saw myself I wanted to cry. I felt like a real bride.

All in all, Laura made my wedding experience memorable, and was a calming presence throughout the whole thing. The power outage gave us the absolute worst circumstance you can get when getting ready for your wedding. However, I will always remember that situation not as something that went wrong, but I’ll remember the incredible service I received through Laura. She turned what could have been a devastating day into absolute relief. I never want to know what would have happened if we didn’t have her with us. Her service was immaculate, and I felt gorgeous on my wedding day. 11/10 will...
