Will NEVER EVER buy anything at Best Buy again. I live 1 1/2 hours away and drove up this morning to run two errands in the "big city". Asked for a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable. Was told they had them, customer service rep found it and handed it to me. I bought it ($32!!) and drive home. Oh, did I mention I'm 64 and 40 miles into my drive up there I had a tire pressure light go on and had to wait one hour for someone to check my tires who found a slow leak as soon as I got up there? So I ran my errands and got home as fast as I could. It's a holiday weekend and no one is open to fix my tire and I have to work this week. Unfortunately, this is a "micro" HDMI cable. Not what I asked for and I had no idea there was a difference. Now I have only 15 days to do another 4 hour round-trip to return this product to Best Buy IN PERSON in a car I can't guarantee will get there or get home without a flat (and I don't have a space). Hey, I can mail it to them for a return, right? NOPE! I called the store number only to find myself (twice) connected to a global call center who says I can't mail this product back for a return, that I HAVE TO go to the store to do it. Can I talk to someone at the store? Maybe they can help me? Nope!! The "store" number only goes to the global call center - THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTACT THE STORE DIRECTLY. So now I'm going to call my credit card company and dispute the charge. I don't know if they will, but I didn't just pick this up, the employee handed it to me and said it was the right thing. I understand people make mistakes, but there should be some way that I don't have to do all the work and spend all my money and time to return it when it was their mistake NOT MINE. What a rip-off that you can't reach the store you just walked into and shopped at. Best Buy =...
Read moreTwo years later, we are moving to a new home and met with Danny McKim, Senior Consultant Extraordinaire - he was so knowledgeable about all the new TVs, soundboards, computers, and printers that we were looking to purchase. We were so fortunate to find Danny, a real treasure who is extremely knowledgeable and very courteous in helping us make new purchases of TVs, computers, and printers!! (2023) We had two recent house calls from Best Buy Geek Squad employees. Michael Clark came to provide information about streaming speakers and televisions for our home. He was very knowledgeable and personable! As Totaltech members, there was no charge for this valuable information.
Today, Brian Herring from the Lee's Summit Best Buy Store, came to install our new 8-port 2.5 G Multi-Gigabit device. He then confirmed that our computer worked either hard-wired or with WiFi. Then he went outside, brought out his ladder, and proceeded to reset the Ring cameras that hadn't worked properly for some time. It was so awesome to have them functioning correctly. Once again, as Totaltech members, there was no charge for Brian's expertise and time.
Later, while purchasing new TVs, Sonos speakers, and an iPad at Best Buy in Overland Park, we were so grateful for the capable help of Cody, Nick, and Luke in selecting the best iPad to stream music to our speakers. They were all extremely capable and patient in explaining various options.
Chandler and Alec helped us on several occasions to understand the amazing new features of the new Sony TVs. Louis concisely explained the benefits and limitations of various Sonos speakers and set up new appointments for the Geek Squad to come to our home to set up our new purchases!
The Geek Squad is definitely the...
Read moreI went in to return a couple of laptops I purchased over the holidays and had no issues. I was actually going to ask the lady at customer service her name as she did a phenomenal job taking care of me and looking up an order as I couldn't find my digital receipt.
I then headed back to look at other laptops as I wanted to purchase a more expensive one since the first two I purchased online weren't quite what I was looking for. I believe there were four or five team members helping other guests, so I patiently waited a few minutes as a young lady was finishing up with a customer. As soon as she finished, she began taking an item back which I had no issue with since I thought that was proper protocol for employees, and I figured she would return. She didn't return, so I waited a little longer for another employee. After about 5 minutes, someone asked me if I was being helped and professionally apologized that it would be a few more minutes. No big deal as others were ahead of me. Finally, my turn form some assistance and I had my mind set quickly to purchase either an $850 or $1099 laptop, but another employee grabbed the person helping me so the two of them could help another guest. All I got was, "I'm sorry," from the employee who was helping another customer while my guy took off without explanation.
This time I was becoming a little upset with having to wait as Tim had me convinced to buy a laptop from him until he left to take care of another customer. It may sound a little old school, but I figured if another customer was more important than me while making a large purchase, then Best Buy isn't going to get my money, so I walked...
