Sichuan Dynasty — Restaurant in Overland Park

I came here with my friend 3 weeks ago. The food was great and I told my family we would try it one day. Not anymore. I came back today 3/6/25 to enjoy their lunch special, the same meal that I had last time I was there. When I walked in I began my carry out order with full intention of paying for and enjoying my meal. I entered and placed an order, then I requested to pay afterwards as all carry orders work at’ Asian restaurants. The male at the counter seemingly caught an attitude when asked if I could pay afterwards and scoffed. He then instructed me to sit down. 2 minutes later I notice an older woman, the same one who served me last time I was in the restaurant, standing behind me silently, looking over my shoulder watching me on my phone. Not sure what that was about. I then realized I needed to go get my credit card from my car. As I left the owner followed me outside and began yelling at me. He wasn’t simply raising his voice, he was full on yelling at me. “What do you think you are doing?? Your order ready in one minute! You not leaving! Come back here now! Where do you think you going??”. I explained I needed to go to my car. He wasn’t having it. Now I am standing facing him in the parking lot as he yells at me from the curb. He says “no, get back in here! Your order is ready in one minute!” Confused at how this was a problem and stunned at the fact that this was happening, I followed him back inside and I asked where my food was. He laughed and retorted, “oh really? where ya food is haha”. The food was not ready. We went back and forth with this two more times. I told him once again I needed to go to my car to get my things. He laughed and said, “you go get your things”, while walking away. I walked outside and decided that I did not deserve that treatment. I left in my car and called the store. I told him that because he thinks it’s ok to yell at customers he can cancel my order. He once again began screaming over the phone. I ignored it and continued to tell him that I would be telling my friend that I came with last time not to return and that I had planned on coming every month because I loved the food but will never come back. He continued to yell yet I ignored him, finished my piece and hung up. At 12:18 pm (exact time stamp so you know it’s real) I called my friend and told him to never go back and he agreed. I have told my family and friends we will not be dining like we planned. Hello Sichuan dynasty! The $15.38 that was supposed to be yours will be going to tropical smoothie near by. That was my second and final time entering your restaurant. I will find another Asian spot. Best of luck screaming at customers. You embody so much of what the world...

Amazing chinese food! I choose to order a few things and had left overs for days!

I ordered the mini pork buns, the pot sticker style dumplings, beef skewers, chicken lo mein, & general tso’s chicken.

The mini buns were delicious! I personally didn’t love the sauce that came with them but they were delicious on their own, I tried some in just plain soy sauce & that was great too! The pot sticker style dumplings were great! I ate the food about 40 min after picking up take out so the texture had lost a little bit of itself but I’m sure if I had them fresh they would have been even better! You could definitely share these & the mini buns with 2 people but you could also for sure eat them on your own if you really wanted! The beef skewers were the only part that didn’t impress. They were a little bit dry, closer to beef jerky than typical beef skewers but the flavor was still amazing. Not a big deal, as beef skewers can be hit or miss at any place. The chicken lo mein was very classic lo mein. Not too many vegetables which I personally liked and everything was cooked perfectly. The chicken seemed a little low quality and there wasn’t much in it so may be worth to get the vegetable lo mein then a different chicken you like to add to it if you want more protein. Now the absolute best part was the general tso’s chicken! It was by far the best I have ever had. If you can only get 1 thing or if you like general tso chicken in general I would definitely recommend it! It had great flavor, wasn’t insanely spicy but had a nice spice to it. Tasted great with the white rice but I’m sure it would taste equally good with nothing else or anything else. Wasn’t drowning in sauce or vegetables, it had a GOOD amount of chicken without being unreasonable.

The food was not bad, was hot when it came out but that is not why we are leaving a bad review. When we first walked in we were greeted and got seated she took our drinks, not even 3 mins later she came back with them and then asked if we were ready to order. We had not have time to look at as we were still trying to decide if we wanted to order an appetizer or not. 10seconds go by after she left another person turned around and asked if we were ready. We then stated that we would like to start with the spicy dumplings. We told her that we still needed a minute to decide as we had not been there before and there is a lot to look at. 3 mins go by and we were then asked again by a different person if we were ready, said the same thing and then 10seconds we were asked again. At this point I was getting frustrated and ordered some random thing because I don’t like to be pressured and wanted them to just asking as at this point we were asked more than 15times since just being seated. When we got our food we were eating it but we ended up getting full so we asked for a box. I still had quite a bit left so my husband had asked for a bigger box, instead of going to get one she took the one box out of my hand and snatched my plate out from under my arm and started packing up my food for me. I was more than capable of doing it but the lid was not going to shut all the way with the food. Then as my husband was putting his food in his. The same and started taking plates.
