0/5 I bought a G438 in 2021 in the store and turns out it has a modified MicroCenter/PowerSpec-MSI BIOS that prohibits enabling secure boot which is required for games like Battlefield 6 and Valorant. Someone at the Knowledge Bar said I could bring it in and they would check the BIOS to enable secure boot at no charge (as there is not an option for “Windows OS Configuration” that the internet says to look for). I didn’t have my PC with me, so I confirmed it would be at no charge if I brought it in. So the following week I brought it with me to find out that no, it’ll be $50 and they can’t guarantee anything. And if I upgraded my CPU and motherboard it may not fix it either. I had planned to upgrade what would be $1500 in parts probably but now I’m having to reconsider. Phone support didn’t have anything either: I called and waited probably 1-3 hours to get to 2nd place (from 8th in line) in the queue, then the micro center phone system say something like “there seems to be a problem with the system“ and nothing else happen, forcing me to do anything I can to get it to continue. Calling back as soon as I possibly could resulted in me being 11th or even farther away from help, which would take another 1-3 hours to wait, if not longer. Not good. Don’t buy a pre built. The pc was great up until this point, so ll be buying from MC in the future, but just not any prebuilt PCs.

I drove all the way from Wichita to get the Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, which has been backordered and targeted by scalpers everywhere. I have to commend Micro Center for their proactive efforts to discourage scalpers and ensure that PC builders like myself can access the parts we need at fair prices. Walking in and receiving exceptional customer service made the experience even better. I was able to buy the processor at MSRP, which is a rarity these days. Despite being a brick-and-mortar store, Micro Center consistently offers highly competitive pricing and an unbeatable selection of tech products. If you’re building or upgrading your PC, or just need tech essentials, I highly recommend checking out this store first. It’s well worth the trip!

I can't thank the service department, especially Josh, enough for helping with my new PC build. I even got called back to be given a discount for a few days later ($40 back). I was truly worried about getting a PC built for me, however the customer service was outstanding. Josh called and talked through the process, ideas, and recommendations with ways to save. It was super stressful dropping 3k on a PC and not having my hands/eyes on it but his recommendations were whole hearted. No doubt top rated customer service! 10/10 would do again.

You'd think customer service is a thing when you drop good coin for a custom machine.

Never again.

UPDATE You asked..

12/30/23 Attempt 1: All started with customizing a computer online, only to be called back the next day, saying various parts were not available, even though they were when I completed my purchase.

Attempt 2: So, while on the phone with a rep, we both discussed parts and built a pc together. The sales rep assured me he physically had the parts in his hands and that they we're available, compatible, and will be used for my build. I got ANOTHER call back from the same sales rep, stating that he has no clue where my graphics card AND case went, and that someone must have stolen it or an employee took it for some reason...

Attempt 3: Third time's a charm.. right? So, I build this thing a third time with this same rep, only to be called back at a later day saying the memory isn't compatible. Ok, so I pick a different set of RAM.

The billing with this was a nightmare, trying to iron out the final amount due after building a custom pc over and over with different parts and price points. Your company tried to charge me more money on two various occasions with this purchase. 1. inaccurate part costs and 2. you tried to charge me an extra 59.99 for no reason, - and that's after you fixed the first error with the inaccurate parts cost that I had to drive to the store for, wait forever, and finally get you guys to iron everything out.

(I'm still just getting started)

After a few days of using my machine, i'm running into a lot of issues. Crashing, errors, noise, bios issues, etc. Get on support, do everything they say, and was instructed to come into the store to run diagnostics.

After waiting at the store for three (3) hours, and going back and forth with the tech, the issue was a bad processor [7800x3d]. You guys replaced that and give it to me, then proceed take it back because you forgot to put the thermal paste on. Ok cool, I'm on my way back home..

I'm still experiencing similar issues. I get back on support, do everything they say, and yup.. I'm right back to the store. 1/19/24

I've since had to buy a BeeLink to continue my work since this is taking so long. The communication has been horrible. You tell me you've ran every diag but then need to run further memory tests. You say you've reinstalled windows and now everything is fine, but then text me saying you still need my activation code, and you reinstalled the wrong version of windows on my machine (while also shoving down my throat you usually charge $100 for this service, and $30 to install Google Chrome..). You are not assuring me any of these issues are even fixed, and basically saying I'm the one who corrupted Windows, when you guys installed it in the first place.

I'm writing these details today, 1/28/24:

It's been ten days (10) - You still have my machine. There has been no clear communication on if my pc is fixed and running optimal.

All I wanted to do was have a seamless experience building a custom PC online, picking it up at the store, and being a happy customer.

I received a nightmare of an experience, shady billing tactics, shady technician texts, with no assurances that my high-end pc is going to run...

I brought in my gaming laptop figure out how I could have it run better with premiere pro. I use my gaming laptop as an editing device for work. The gentleman told me that adding extra RAM would improve the computer's ability run premier pro with high quality videos . I asked him how to do that and he said that he was unable to open a computer leading me to believe that micro center won't do the work for you and install the ram. So following his advice, I proceeded to buy the ram and install it myself if I hadn't been led to believe that micro center wouldn't install things. I may have had micro center do it for me. Instead I was sent home with a product that I proceeded to install. The ram was extremely easy to install + nothing had to be taken off except for a cover. Once the RAM was installed it started to blue screen until it wouldn't it wouldn't even do that and it would just turn on a blank screen with a mouse in the middle and the BIOS wasn't even available. I returned the next day to see if someone could help me because I was sold a faulty product that messed up my computer so bad that nothing would turn on anymore they told me that even if the ram I was sold, was faulty and caused damage to other parts of the computer. I would still have to pay the entire diagnostic fee and everything it would cost to fix the computer. I argued with them that I was sold a faulty part and that I was also led to believe that there was no help offered on putting things together. And they said it still doesn't matter. You're going to have to pay for everything. Sorry

Extremely unhelpful staff. They were giving me a lot of attitude and treating me like I was a child. Won't. I don't think I would suggest micro center to anybody and I think that have I would even suggest my friends not...

Great place find deals on electronics, but before you go. Do your own research on the stuff your buying, some that work there don't have clue. Will give the wrong item that you need, but other then that it's Wonderful place!

Updated Review As something went wrong on their how did we do thing, went January 12th, to pick up som parts for a couple buildings. As I've already posted this on your guys Facebook comments. Find parts went down an aisle, to find Lian Li vertical mount for my vision case. Couple employees were chit chatting awhile stocking the shelves and there carr was in way and here was much room with the cart and the two employees having good old time. Stood there trying to find item after hearing there conversation. Few mins go by one finally asked if I need help finding a item, found it went on to find the rest of my what I needed. But then it came with getting NMVe drive, is were that I felt like I was being kept from leaving store ( As people have lives to attend to ) found drive standing there waiting for an employee to open up the show case. Finally a person comes open it up for an customer, I told the associate what drive that I needed. He said he could help me because he was already helping someone else. ( Little alone that's all that I needed, so that I could get line and check out!! ) I told the guy just take up front, he said no hes already helping a person but give him couple mins and he would help me. Well couple mins turned into 10 mins!!! Finally someone seen still waiting for an available person. * Same guy that was rude with me last month in December * He said he was sorry for the long wait time. Now checking out went smoothly, but getting things that I needed didn't.. Not for sure what's going on but damn you guys have...
