Please be careful of the changing currents and the presence of riptides. This is common at this entire beach & even in shallow ends, there are drop off places that can be dangerous for children. Know that there are no lifeguards at Panama City Beach unless the hotel pays for one. So if you have children, take extreme precautions as children do die every tourist season at PCB coast due to parental passive behavior. Riptides can be common in certain conditions and you must teach everyone how to get out of riptides before they go into the water (don’t fight it by trying to swim towards the shore line, swim parallel to the shore until you feel the riptide release you). There are many drop-offs, pools, and sandbars so know these change the water’s currents . It may look safer than the Atlantic but it can still drown children & weak, inexperienced swimmers. Also, just FYI, the "positive touch" business in front of access 46 has an unmarked parking lot in front of beach access that is apparently a tow zone. No signage or anything, not paved, and not in front of the store... But alas, private parking and therefore a tow zone.
