2024 update: Thereās new manager whoās as great as the previous one. But the star of the show is the associate who helped us⦠Iām so forgetful with names, but sheās the young South Asian female associate. Sheās great at problem solving and thoroughness. Sheās my go-to person from now on and will be referring others.
āā- The other reviews are unfortunate, but I donāt want to dismiss their validity. My experience on the other hand with staff so far has been great and 5 STARS. The first time I received an eye exam a couple years ago was from an eastern asian optometrist, and she was cool. Then when the eyeglass choosing was handled by the staff and manager, Carly, they were helpful. I was even helped by her when I needed collaborative effort with another Americaās Best out of state, in order to receive my glasses. In fact, I appreciate how professional the associates here have been, specifically Anna and Carly - Iāve only dealt with them. These professionals take your concerns seriously to accommodate any lens or frames issues. They donāt gaslight you or force you to live with any discomfort or dissatisfaction with your purchase. They also communicate with the provider effortlessly even if they are 3rd party.
That said, Iām docking 1 star, because their new optometrist wanted to withhold my examination report until she says otherwise. Iām working with an optha-neurologist for my eye health, so I wanted copies of all my medical records regarding eye exams and health at each time I got an eye exam for historical data, but apparently the optometrist I had previously seen is gone, and now the new one didnāt want to release my records because she wanted me to come in for an updated eye exam. Problem is, I already got an exam a couple weeks ago from the ophthalmologist, and I donāt want an updated exam, I want the old exam as it was, with the report stating date and name of the provider as it was. To my knowledge, you canāt withhold medical records from someone. On a positive note, Carly, the manager said this wonāt be a problem and theyāll get it to me soon as possible.
I think what they can improve on, based on this, is, even if the optometrists are third party, since Americaās Best partners with them and houses them, and has all the patientās medical records, they should have a system in place thatās HIPAA compliant, for a specific associate to be able to release your records to you. After all, technically, the āmedical officeā is still there, which would be the Americaās Best location, and the new provider has nothing to do with that exam so they shouldnāt alter anything to those past records. In the end, I was able to get my old eye exam report and Iām happily a loyal customer whoāll refer others to come to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in for an eye exam and a new pair of glasses on 10/17/2020 at around 12pm. After finishing the eye exam, I went over to the optical to look for glasses. After some time, I ended up picking out two expensive glasses. After paying for both glasses I wanted to confirm that the glasses I will receive will be brand new and not the ones on display. I was told that because one of the frames are limited edition, I would receive the ones on display which several people have tried on and touched during this pandemic. I was not given this information while purchasing the glasses and was only told AFTER I asked. I asked to speak with the manager, I explained to him the situation - he responded very rudely, did NOT even apologize and all he had to say was "do you want a refund". When i asked to look for another frame not limited edition he responded with "dont think it's a good idea to buy from us anymore". This was it for me. He did not even care he was losing a customer who wanted to buy not 1 but 2 glasses!! About $700 worth of glasses! I will never recommend this place to any of my friends and family , I am glad I received the refund, I will be sure to take my business where I am treated with respect and...
Ā Ā Ā Read more9/13/25 - I'm going to update the review I submitted below. Went from 5 stars to 1 star.
Upon just returning from the Parsippany store a very lightly used pair of my progressives had a scratch on the lens (my fault). I simply asked for the price to replace the lens. Frames are still basically brand new. They looked up my account and mandated I get a exam that would cost me $69. Again repeated I want to replace the lenses only. Same exact lens. Wouldn't budge. Obviously the one girl is a receptionist, the other refused to fill my simple request. Too bad the gentleman (Benjamin) wasn't there to school her in customer service. I walked out with no solution and scratched lens.
12-2024 - I've gotten a few pairs of glasses here. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Today I was helped by the optician Benjamin. I had purchased bigger frames and they did not fit comfortably. He took the time to adjust them and put different nose pads on. Made a world of difference. Also fully explained the price for another pair and found a nice discount for my difficult prescription - progressive trifocals. Productive and...
