I visited Desi Cravings last night with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing.
To start, the appetizer we ordered, samosas, arrived lukewarm and tasted like they had been reheated rather than freshly made. The filling was bland, and the texture was off—definitely not what I expect from a staple dish.
For the main course, I ordered paneer, which was overly sweet and lacked the depth of flavor you typically find in Indian cuisine. The naan bread was burnt on the edges and doughy in the middle, making it nearly inedible.
The service also left much to be desired. Despite the restaurant not being busy, our server was inattentive and forgot part of our order. We had to remind them twice about the mango lassi we had requested, which finally arrived after we were halfway through our meal. Even then, it tasted watered down.
The atmosphere didn’t help either. The music was too loud, and the seating felt cramped, making the overall experience uncomfortable. The seating was not giving a fun and sit down vibe. For the prices they charge, I expected much better quality and service.
Unfortunately, I won’t be returning. There are many other Indian restaurants that deliver authentic flavors and a better dining experience. I hope they take customer feedback seriously and improve...
Read moreDesi Cravings, located on US-46 in Parsippany, is a hidden gem that offers an unparalleled journey into the heart of authentic Indian cuisine. During my recent visit, I indulged in their Non-Veg Thali, a feast that perfectly balanced variety, flavor, and authenticity. This exquisite platter featured three rich and aromatic vegetarian curries alongside two beautifully spiced non-vegetarian curries, all complemented by fragrant rice and soft, freshly baked naan. The dessert was the perfect finishing touch, offering a sweet and satisfying end to an already delightful meal. The attention to detail in both presentation and taste was remarkable, showcasing a true mastery of traditional Indian cooking techniques.
What truly elevated the experience was the impeccable service. The staff at Desi Cravings were warm, attentive, and genuinely eager to ensure every diner left with a smile. Their passion for hospitality was evident in every interaction, making the atmosphere inviting and relaxed. Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or a first-timer, this is the place to experience bold, authentic flavors in a welcoming setting. Desi Cravings is a must-visit for anyone seeking a culinary adventure, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to food...
Read moreDesi Cravings is a surprisingly welcome addition to an area that's already oversaturated with Indian restaurants. The food is outstanding and perhaps the best value for money among its peers around Parsippany. I've only ordered takeout and cannot comment on the dine-in experience, but the online ordering system works extremely well and doesn't require using a third party service.
My only criticism is that the food might be a bit too "authentic" for the average American. I typically order my curries medium to medium-hot at local curry houses, but "mild" at Desi Cravings is closer to medium-hot to hot at other restaurants. The meat is also quite boney, so if you're used to enjoying carefree boneless wings this is not the place for you. Personally, I prefer a spicier dish and don't mind picking through chicken bones in my curry, but others might not share my preferences.
The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star rating is because of an issue with one of my takeout orders. I ordered chicken fried rice so that I could share it with my wife, but when I got home I discovered they gave me mutton ghee biryani instead, which was delicious but way too spicy...
