Overall, it is fair to say that the experience of rehabbing at this facility was very good. I would suppose that any facility of this type will always have a mixed population. Shorter term patients rehabbing from various surgeries, progressively getting better as time passes, and acute care cases, including Alzheimer and dementia patients that are long term, finishing out their days, and receiving close attention. Also it seems that there are long term residents that have been able to arrange there cases so as to reside here as well. As a short term rehabber, I found it slightly bothersome that some of the dementia patients were so closely mixed in to the general population, and not cordoned off to a portion of the facility where their special needs and general outward affect, was not so much a part of the daily, and nightly, experience for me. Leaving a babbling, or screaming person right down the hallway from older quiet patients, and rehabbers such as myself, that pretty much keep to themselves, greatly detracts from the restful experience one would seek to find. At the very least one would expect some sort of mitigation by staff and management, to lessen the negative overall effect this mixture of case types, imposes on those quieter, more self-contained residents, allowing them to rest in a much more peaceful environment. I found hard to sleep for very long. Again, this may be the dynamic present at most of these type facilities, and is a part of having to transition from hospital post-surgery care, to "SNIF" care to home care. I did find the physical and occupational therapy offerings at Meadows to be of a superior nature. They offer a large therapy space, staffed by a more than adequate number of very skilled and dedicated therapists. You will receive thorough attention by PT staff, and will be physically challenged to the extent of your needs. Your nutritional needs will be adequately satisfied at Meadows. For institutional food I found it to be better than most. If you require more or different faire than intitally offered, be sure to make your needs well know to nutrition staff, and you will be accommodated well. This staff does a particularly good job at egg preparation. Breakfast is quite good as a general rule, especially if you make your needs and desires know to staff. Don't be timid. Speak up, and you will be made happy. The nursing staff is also of a superior caliber. The RN's are dutiful and diligent. LVN's are in charge of pharmaceutical needs and schedules, and are friendly, as well as properly compassionate. I was impressed by their professionalism. In general, interaction with them was a highlight to my stay. They are staffed by a very good group of CNA's. There are a number of them that exceed expectation, really adding to ones ease and comfort. They are, in general, very accommodating, and attentive. Management staff are very involved, and attentive to residents' needs. I was seen to, and checked upon, by various members of management staff on a daily basis. Always asked if there was anything that I needed, and then, that same person would personally see to my requests being satisfied. Quite over and above any expectations. In closing I would like to say that any perceived shortcomings are overweighted by the positive aspects of my stay at Meadows. Were I in the same position of need in future, I would certainly go back to stay at...
Read moreMy Dear mom has been at this facility, LITERALLY, 2days. My brother and I received a follow up call from a REAL LIVE person, from the moment she got there, informing us both with updates on her care and progress. We appreciate this greatly. These folks are "On It". They've already scheduled appointments with specialists and have arraigned for her transportation to and from, allowing me to accompany her to these visits and to be "onboard" with her ride. They've asked to meet with my brother and i and we sat with my mothers entire team. They are very detailed and helpful, knowledgeable and compassionate. They truly care for their patients and their families. The facility is clean, bright, busy and well kept. Staff are very very friendly and are so kind to these seniors. They accommodated another family with the use of the dining hall for a birthday celebration , allowing the entire family to bring festivities and staff helped with this. A Very positive environment. We feel that they absolutely have my mothers best interest at the forefront. They strive for seniors to be engaged, clean, well fed, safe, moving and staying mobile. It's very assuring to see them in action. The parking is very limited but I can deal with that. My mother is not vaccinated, therefore she is held in the strictest standards of the facility. She is in a sequestered room with other unvaccinated persons and not allowed to have outside persons enter without the cdc standards and guidelines . I have to go through a rigorous screening and also suited up in proper standards for entry. Special masks, gloved , only vaccinated visitors allowed, temp documented when you come AND GO, also must wear a shielded visor type face covering and a vinyl protective long sleeved gown. EVERY TIME. Plus every person entering that very strictly monitored door must log in at kiosk and log out. My mom wasn't feeling well last night, a nurse called me immediately to explain and gave notice as to what exactly they were going to do, moving forward, with care. So grateful for these essential heros that provide such great service and accommodation for our valued seniors . I give it a 5 star rating. I Thank God that my mom is here. She's in good hands and so are we...
Read moreI'm presently here because my Dr felt it best after bleeding out then contracting Pneumonia. There are a a few good PT Staff and a few good Nurses. There is a Passive Agressive Nurse that refuses to answer my buzzer and the cause of a delay in my medication and needs. She insulted me in Tagalog and to her superior. Tonight she got 3 other nurses to tell me I could not use the Public Restroom. My shared restroom is filthy and a storage area.
A Dr K in charge is absent and failed to follow Huntington Hospital s Protocol although agreed 8-10 days ago. I've tried reaching him for 6 consecutive days, crickets. Michael, Marketing Director lied/ mislead me about availability, continuity and Protocols consistent with HH he cant be trusted. Some Nurses withhold necessary medication because they lack the knowledge.
If searching for a nursing home you could do much better if you care. Very few nurses use gloves. My roommate dropped his urinal, the housekeeping man stuck his hand in the urine cleaning it up and said it was water. He dropped a second that stunk up the room I had to sleep in the entryway. This place isn't professional although some are professionals. Nurses barring me from a public restroom is a first. Dr K may be likeable but unreliable, practices avoidance and calls Drug Rehab Pain Mgmt. Not professional and I've contacted attorneys for his lying about treatment, failure to follow-up and failure to administer agreed upon treatment
I ve been asking for a Release but threatened w Against Medical Advice so my Insurance won't pay. They are misleading, manipulative and primarily Liars. I hope the Board that regulates this place will...
