Took our two American Pit Bull Terriers to this dog park for the first time today. While it does cost if you're not a member, it's only $1, and they have you pay because the park is funded not by taxes, but by membership fees.
It's in extremely good condition with three different areas: 30 lbs or less, over 30 lbs, and a mixed area for dogs of all sizes. There are plenty of shade spots, pavilions, chairs, benches, bag stations, water spickets, and even two small kiddie pools for doggies to cool off in!
Many owners just sat back and talked while their dogs ran around playing (although it appeared they frequent the space), but we had no issues with socialization of dogs or owners! One dog got a little upset when mine tried to play, and the owner promptly apologized and took his dog home shortly thereafter (maybe his doggie was just not in the mood to play?).
One gentleman we saw had a few dogs with him and he runs a dog boarding service in Atlanta. He drives all the way from the city to use this dogpark because of how clean, large, and fantastic it is!
I would highly recommend this dog park to anyone with a fur baby. I'm incredibly picky about the places my dogs play (I want them to be clean and safe) and this place was a dream. After an hour of running and playing my dogs are currently passed out having happy...
Read moreNot a safe place for dogs to play as there are no real "rules" established, and people with smaller aggressive dogs are often encouraged by the owners and even the board members to bark, snarl, and bite at other larger dogs even though there are separate areas for different-sized dogs. The board of directors is a joke, all a bunch of senior citizens who favor their friends and are hyper-vigilant towards people that are not their friends. The dog park is a place for dogs to socialize, not people - there is no room here to be fake friendly if you do not have the dogs' best interest in mind. I was approached multiple times by the "board members" (aka powertripping volunteers) asking if I have paid while their own digital system doesn't work and can't look up names of people who bought an annual membership. I'm looking to get my membership revoked because this place is such a joke. Also, it's not super clean - plenty of muddy water just left around, perfect breeding ground for mosquitos during the Georgia summer, and the chairs often have a lot of standing water. Find another dog park or somewhere else for your dog to be social and play - you will be treated here as an outsider even if you have lived in this town for over ten years....
Read moreI love this dog park! Most patrons are courteous and friendly. There is ample seating and plenty of trees for shade. There are three areas for dogs: one for small dogs under 30 lbs and elderly dogs, one for dogs who need to be away from children, and one for everyone else. The child free area is always available if your dog needs to get away from a dog that doesn't appreciate his attention. Each of the three areas has a water spigot and plenty of bowls or buckets are available for getting fresh water. Each area also has a gazebo for freedom from sun or rain. Some areas are mulched and some are grassy. All areas have bag dispensers and waste containers. Each patron is required to pick up their dog's poo and watch their pups for aggressive behaviours. Parking near the gate is available for golf carts and handicap patrons. Others need to take a short walk down a paved drive.
I've been to 5 other dog parks with my pups but this is my favorite and it is closest to...
