ValuCheck — Attraction in Pekin

Unfortunately I will never go back. The place is usually very clean and not crowded. Items on sale are a really good price but the groceries I normally buy are more expensive here. They are the only store in town that sell cookies my daughter and a beer that I like so I stop in once in a while to pick up a few items when I don't need a lot. After getting my other groceries I went the liquor section and grabbed 3 individual beers. While in line the cashier said that she would not ring me up. I only had 7 grocery items plus the 3 beers. I also had a lottery ticket to cash so had to wait in line to cash the ticket then go to the front to check out my groceries. The woman in front of me had more items but they were mostly alcohol, so I guess that's ok. She also paid in 2 separate transactions, so she took longer than I did at the main checkout. I would have just left the groceries and walked out except I had already told my daughter I was getting something for her. Terrible service. No wander they are...

Im not sure of names or the staff that worked with us but hopefully this reaches you. On behalf of our Girl Scout troop 4732, we would like to say a big thank you to you guys. This was our first time selling cookies so we didnt get much info on how to sell. Most of our parents shop at your store so we decided to ask to set up a booth there. You guys have been most wonderful and very accomidating. It was cold outside the 1st time we came and you guys said come in, and the 2nd time you gave the girls each a pink reusable shopping bag. WOW!!! Each employee that came in or was going out always greeted the girls with smiles, some even bought cookies. I and another leader were so impressed by you guys that we are making sure to tell everyone we know how great you guys are. Thank you so much for being an awesome store, that I for 1 am making you my primary store. Hope we were not too much of a nuisance, and will continue to let us set up booths. They have a lot of things for sale that you won't find at other chain stores. Store was well stocked and clean. Prices reasonable. Very wide aisles. Plenty of elbow room. No deli, etc, but they have some basic stuff prepackaged. You have to sack your own groceries, but they supply the bags. Don't like the fact that every price on their products are 10 percent lower than what you pay at checkout. They add the 10 percent back on at checkout. Wish they would just be up front with the actual price to start with. A little deceptive in my mind. I still like shipping there from time to time. Hasn't changed that I can see.
