I went to Regal last night to see F9 with my brother. We were severely disappointed with the Theatre and wish I had gone to Cinemark. The Theatre looked closed from the outside. The ticket stand was completely empty and I thought the showtimes had been incorrect. But upon entering, there was a line at the concession stand. I went to the Help Desk to buy tickets because the ticket kiosks are also gone. I was informed the tickets must be purchased at the concession stand, but as ludicrous as this might be to believe, they only had one line in place, so as people requested a movie, selected their seats, confirmed the prices, paid for the tickets, waited for the receipt, they then proceeded to pick food items verbally because, lo and behold, the menu screens are turned off. Now they have to select, change sizes, add snacks, add drinks, make requests, then finally pay, but after they pay, they are then waiting for their food while the line continues to grow and elongate and expand because people who ALREADY bought their tickets-- have to wait to order food, while others-- who ONLY want to buy tickets-- can't select the line just for tickets. Spending twenty minutes on each customer is counterproductive, especially when people schedule their busy days to arrive at the theater on time. I arrived ten minutes early to my movie, but if you think that 20 minute indicator previously mentioned is exaggerating, I'm sorry to say it isn't. I had to flag the manager down to ask for a secondary line for tickets, but the same process continued. Buy your tickets, then your food, and make everyone else wait, so people who were minutes early are now late for their movie. If I'm paying $30 to see a movie and another $20 on snacks, I DO NOT WANT TO BE LATE TO THE MOVIE. If I'm paying $7 for a soda, I don't appreciate it when I sit down and find out it isn't even filled up all the way. I don't appreciate having to ask one by one by one what menu items are available since the manager Daniel can't turn on the screens, can't effectively organize his lines, and isn't aware of what menu items are readily available without asking his immature staff. Now, I'm overpaying for partially filled soda, munching on secondary option snacks, late to a movie because of concession issues, only to find the theatre is too warm. My pants and undergarments were so soaked from sweat, I thought I walked home. If it wasn't 1 AM because I had to select a later showtime just to miss the trailers, I would have complained and asked for my money back. This used to be my favorite movie theatre to go to-- I've been coming here for 20 years, since I first moved to Pembroke Pines and saw Spider-Man and The Scorpion King in the same summer with my Uncle, but this was the most uncomfortable experience at Regal. AMC is brand new; Cinemark was absolutely comfortable. There's competition and a post-pandemic era to contend with, along with streaming options appearing more frequently. There is no excuse for these asinine discrepancies. If you do not care about your job, please venture off to another one. I prefer to enjoy my movie theatre experience, not contemplating how to best complain because of how absolutely irate I am. Black Widow, Eternals, Shang-Chi, Spider-Man, Ghostbusters, Jungle Cruise, Dune, Space Jam, No Time To Die, Free Guy, and many more will all be coming to theatres this year. Thank God the Theatres are open again, but I might just consider Cinemark. I prefer to enjoy movies when...
Read moreWe all now how expensive it is going to the movie theater now, especially for food and drinks where theater owners make their money. It is what it is, however in return for the higher prices these days, the quality of food should be at least reasonably ok. I bought a large bag of popcorn that was cold, stale, and over salted. I returned it and asked for a fresh batch to be made, like how it used to be made at movie theaters, which were always making more. Instead, the employee told me that wasn't possible because they had a lot of bags "fresh" popcorn (probably from the morning or day before) they had to serve from first. I arrived 15 minutes before show time and stated I could wait to get some freshly made hot popcorn that I wanted to also control how much salt to put on myself. Instead, I was told that more hot "butter" aka butter flavored oil, could be added to warm up my popcorn. I stood there shocked thinking how to politely to respond, took a sip of my soda which was flat. I just asked for my money back, which I had to wait for another employee to come over to approve only after I had to explain why instead of the first employee explaining the reason who was helping another customer who heard me complain about the cold & stale popcorn, asking for some hot popcorn instead, after being given his bag, tasted it and said it was no good and decided not to buy anything.. This all took a lot of time, unnecessarily.
After walking away from the concession stand where I had previously paid over $12, I stopped to use the restroom before entering the theater. When I entered it, which only had a handful of patrons inside (it was basically empty) the room was already dark with previews playing. I entered a row of seats and walked into what seemed to be spilled soda onto my new sneakers and noticed garbage all over the floor - apparently this theater was never properly cleaned between movie times. I left the theater, found the employee that refunded my concession money and insisted on being refunded my movie money.
The next day I went to AMC at Pembroke Lakes Mall and had a very good...
Read moreWasn't expecting the new "improved" seating arrangements.
I was clearly disappointed when, while getting my movie tickets, the theater unexpectantly introduced the new rule of "seat reservations". I don't know who came up with this bright idea, but this new rule clearly ruined my day. My family and I were forced to disperse in random seats just because lazy customers, who actually showed up a few minutes before the movie even started compared to at least 30 minutes before, decided they could have their seats reserved earlier in the day! It might be convenient for them, but it isn't for loyal customers who are responsible enough to even show up on time and patiently wait for their movie. The rule "First come for serve" is justifiable, but the seating rule clearly defies and manipulates this belief to their advantage.
Furthermore, as much as the new leather seats were comfortable, I couldn't fathom how many people were lazy to get up. In fact, they were so comfortable that no one wanted to get up for a bathroom break! This is a major issue to their health, especially if someone suffers from bladder infection. I don't know how they did it, but there is no way that these new chairs could've passed the "hazard free" inspection. The recliners extend so far out that if, God forbid, there was a fire in the building, people would trip over the recliners whether they are standing or even sitting down! And in the end, the everyone would burn inside the building ..... Speaking of fire, I saw no fire exits whatsoever in the new theater room (what happened there?), and wonder just how much the theater truly cares for our safety.
Overall, this new rule is deplorable like the magic bands in Disney. They want to make our lives easier with all these technological advances but newsflash: EVERYTHING gets complicated with technology. I'm very disappointed with how things turned out; hopefully Regal realizes their mistake and either fixes this problem or take it away completely.
Please Regal, next time when you have another bright idea, consider the pros and cons (because they're a lot of them) BEFORE...
