We purchased a $1000 refrigerator (so not some cheap garage model) in approx Sept. 2022. It worked poorly from day one. The temperature fluctuated between 50 degrees and 30 degrees.( we use a Govee wi-fi fridge monitor) The service tech could not figure out what was wrong for sure, so under warranty they replaced the inner parts to the fridge. That worked fine for about 3-4 months- then it began the fluctuations again. We called but by now the warranty had expired. (they do not warranty repairs done under warranty apparently). We found if we kept the settings a certain way- we could minimize fluctuations- and not overfill the fridge. We tried to purchase a new one from Sherman's-but they didn't have anything in stock (so much for delivery tomorrow!)- and the least we could now spend was over $2000...and wait an indeterminate amount of time for the new fridge as they order it. They also offered no discount or help aside from they would waive the $150 delivery fee if we purchased a new one. We travel frequently and did not want to come home to a spoiled fridge full of food. We decided to try to keep limping along with our 18 month old fridge. Recently- the freezer became unstable too. It frosts up unexpectedly. It can't defrost itself properly now either. We found if we keep a bare minimum of items in the freezer, we can also limp along with that until we get a new one. We did call for service before our decision. They charge a non-refundable $150 just to come out. I could not imagine they would fix things for less than another $300-$400...and just felt it was time to buy another appliance instead of put $500 or more into one that never did work well. In the meantime, they did book a service visit we did not request. It only took 3 contacts with them to try to "cancel " the service visit we did not make and to correct my name (they never did get it right..and it's not some complex name)-and sent the technician anyway. We sent him away.
My experience with Sherman's is not good. They sold a poorly made refrigerator for a premium price- did little to help us when it was clear this is a badly made appliance. Over the nearly 2 years, they have never had my name correct- and each time they either don't correct it or make another mistake. They have offered ZERO as a way to build customer trust and loyalty by helping us with this dilemma. I can get that kind of crappy treatment from any big box store with better product availability. I would really like to support local business- and smaller family owned stores- but I am not going to buy appliances from Sherman's. Low to no availability UNLESS you want a super expensive model- poor service delivery and no sense of loyalty to the...
Read moreWe love Sherman’s! This was the only time we’ve any issue with something purchased at Sherman’s - we’ve previously bought a gas range and a dishwasher, and those went like clockwork.
We bought an Electrolux washer and dryer set that required three trips and nearly a week to get installed.
The first installers discovered the washing machine was missing a foot, and the hoses they brought were too short, so I ran to Menards, Lowe’s and Home Depot to find the various parts needed. When I came back, they’d dropped the old washer while removing it - it fell down a couple of stairs and damaged our hardwood floors ($750 estimate). The installer couldn’t complete the install, so he left.
The second installer brought the foot for the washer, but told me the built-in discharge hose on the washer was too short, and he wasn’t comfortable taking the back off the washer to see how the existing hose was connected, so I was instructed to find a longer discharge hose, but with no idea on what fitting I would need.
The third installers (3 guys) came a few days after that. They were able to connect everything after first spraying water across the floor because installer #2 had incorrectly connected the steam kit. They were able to use the existing discharge hose, so the two types I bought were not needed. They did open the packaging and tried both hoses. Unfortunately, they took the discharge hose packaging with them (trash?) leaving me with $25 of discharge hoses I couldn’t return. The good news - they were able to successfully connect everything, and it’s running fine.
The first installer said Sherman’s would call us about the floor damage, but that didn’t happen, so we searched and found someone. It will cost $750 to fix Sherman’s damage.
In addition to different water hoses and a new gas line and nipple I had to find, I was surprised when the installers asked if I had certain tools, tape, towels, etc. they needed for the install. I thought they would carry those items?
Despite this, we still like Sherman’s. Great service after the sale, decent prices, good selection. This was a cascade of problems that is the exception, rather than the rule. We’d...
Read moreThis is a far cry from my last review of Sherman’s. After purchasing a double wall oven back on the 23 rd of July I paid another $100 after the $250 for delivery for measurement. The man from Sherman’s told me I need new electrical box put in as the conduit was on the top of the new oven and it was on the bottom for the old one. He informed me they would call and recommend someone and help get it arranged. After maybe 10 days of no one contacting me I started calling Sherman’s. Left several messages that were never returned. I planned to drive there to the store to get help but luckily I called one more time . Got a human finally who after I explained my issue she transferred me. Then after telling my issue again I was out on hold and transferred again . The next person said call u right back. I’m sure it was hours before they called back to tell me no they don’t do what the driver said they do and it was all on me. Which is fine.Just not what I was told . So I have a delivery date of 8/28, I have an electrician coming on 8/26. I phoned Shermans on 8/18 and left a message that I need them to come remove the old oven by 8/25 so the electrical can be done on the 26th. Of course no one called me back, so I called again today. After no one answering me again I tried another dept., explained my issue and was again, you guessed it, put on hold and transferred . After explaining again my issue I was told I’ll call you back in like 2 minutes. Well after over an hour I was phoned to be told sorry we can’t help you until until 9/3 for removal of the old one. Well that won’t work if the electrician is coming on the 26th. I was told sorry then I can’t help you . Even after paying extra for the service, I said well I guess I will figure this out myself .I have done business for over 20 years with Sherman’s but this will be my last ! Worst customer service I have ever...
