The big dog run at Schuylkill Park is fantastic. It is a large enough space for big dogs to get a chance to run around, and not too large for small dogs to get lost in the fray of things. There are generally quite a few dogs in the park, so it's always a good spot to let your four-legged friend run around and socialize. There's also a small dog park right next to it, so puppies and smaller dogs have an opportunity to walk about somewhere that feels a bit safer for them. In comparison to the small dog park, the big dog run is about four times the size, and because it is used more frequently, and by larger animals, it's not quite as clean, but it is generally well maintained. I recommend cleaning up after your dog and being a good neighbor by grabbing any stray dog poop you see, because this is a community maintained space, not a city park where there are attendants paid to steward things. There are water fountains in both the big galvan and small dog run, and bowls available. In the winter. I'm the water is turned off, so the pipes don't freeze, so you will want to bring your own water for your dog. There's also usually a kiddie pool available, and a bunch of tennis balls lying around. Plenty of fun for dogs, and the humans are generally quite nice too. If you go at a consistent time, your dog will likely make some repeat friends, and you may make some too!

Really large area for your dog to really run and play. Has a city supplied dog fresh water watering area, the grass is artificial and really clean. There is also a separate area just as nice for the smaller breeds as well. Also has direct access to the Schuylkill River Trail. Didn't run into any aggresive dogs and all the dog owners were very nice to talk to. You will find bringing your dog here is a pleasure and like I said the other dog owners are not snobby like you find at smaller parks were they make you feel like you dont belong or need a membership to use those other dog parks which make you feel like an outcast. Best dog park I have been to in the city so far. Highly reccomend this place. Me and Lydia had a blast.

By far the best dog park in the tri-state area. Super clean, friendly, and perfectly situated along the river. They have a small park for small dogs, and a large park for larger dogs. Very nice masonry, and turf for the dogs to run and play on. Water hoses readily available to fill up little dog pools for them to cool down in the summer. Can’t think of any other aspect to improve. Keep it up guys.

Big Dog Run is a beloved spot for Philadelphia’s canine residents and their owners. Located within the Schuylkill River Park, it’s a place where larger breeds can frolic and play without restraint. The park’s thoughtful design includes separate areas for big and small dogs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all. With its synthetic grass and well-maintained grounds, Big Dog Run is a year-round haven for dogs to exercise and socialize. It’s a testament to the city’s commitment to providing pet-friendly spaces and fostering a sense of community...
