Located on 95 side of Fairmont Park and along the Schulykill River trail this project was installed as a means of bringing back the American Shad, as well as other species of fish populations to sustainable levels. Installation of dam has diminished fish populations because it has deterred spawning upstream due to strong current dam creates. It’s a wonderful structure and concept although I don’t think it’s done what creators thought it would though without it we wouldn’t have the fish populations we currently have. This location has also become an iconic viewing platform for boathouse row and it’s beautiful architectural lighting as well as backside of the Art Museum which most view from front.
