I cannot say enough about the experience we were provided with here at Cornerstone B&B. It is like it's right out of a Hallmark Movie. I do not have one complaint, and we would not have changed anything about our stay. This place is top notch. We stayed in the Philadelphian room and it was perfect for my husband and I. The staff is incredible. They treat you like royalty and make you feel right at home. They are super attentive, and willing to help with anything you need. They give you their phone numbers, so that you can call throughout the night if you need anything, although they stay on property. There were complimentary bottles of water, delicious baked goods, elegant soaps, Qtips, cotton balls, ear plugs, lotions, and more in the bedrooms for us. There were also shampoo/soap/conditioner dispensers in the shower, so no need to pack any of those items! They supplied us with plenty of linens, and comfy robes. There was always an array of fresh baked goods, tea, and coffee in the common area. There was also a microwave and fridge available in a kitchenette area in the common area. Laundry could be washed in community machines at extra cost. There was free wifi, and streaming services available in the rooms. It being and old house it was a bit drafty, but they thought of that too, and provided us with a heater, and already had the room warmed up and ready for us! Breakfast was incredibly delicious! Parking was FREE, and not hard to find at all. We were able to park right in front of the building at no charge, or a driveway spot could have been available to us for just $15 more, which is a STEAL in this city. It was easy to find, and a perfect distance from both the city center, and the stadium. The neighborhood felt safe, and the doors have code entry. There was a perfect little relaxing porch area where we drank tea and ate out cookies. There are also other resting spots in the gated yard. They offer romantic packages with wine, smores, roses, choc strawberries, and more! They really have thought of everything here! I cant say enough about the amazing staff! The home is clean and gorgeous, but the people are what really made our stay. I believe his name is Brian that helped us check in, and in the AM. That boy deserves a raise. He is fantastic. We checked in later than I had planned, because we got caught up in the fun of the city, but when I called, Brian was so sweet. He told us that check in times are usually until 7pm, but to take our time. He wanted us to enjoy the city, and he would make sure he was available for a late check in if needed. We ended up checking in on time, to which he made sure to take into account any dietary restrictions we had, and get our breakfast order in. The environment was nothing short of relaxing, refreshing, and homey. We have stayed at many fancy, expensive hotels when we travel, but will stay here every time we visit the area from now on, and we will refer everyone we know to stay here. The ONLY miniscule thing that I would have changed, is the placement of the TV in relation to the bed. My husband and I like to watch TV in bed. We had a hard time watching TV from bed, because the big beautiful bed post was in the way. BUT, We...
Read moreWe had a fabulous couple of nights over the holiday weekend. There is a beautiful quiet garden and porch to lounge on, and there are lovely antique pieces and decor all around. Brian the innkeeper was very helpful and attentive, and there was a great deal of information all around the common areas with things to do and see in the area. ||We stayed in the Franklin room, which was a bit small but quite comfortable and pretty, with a treetop view and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom is a few steps down the hall, and was also very nice with a big shower and stained glass windows. There are robes in the room, which are a nice touch. I will say that if you are plus sized, you might want to bring your own. I am around a size 18 and was covered enough to go down the hall to the restroom in the middle of the night, but just barely. Also, the bed is pretty tall. There was a little step stool in the room that I used to get into it (I’m 5’2”) but if that seems awkward to you (it wasn’t the most stable step stool I’ve encountered, but it was fine) you might want to choose another room. The whole place was exceptionally clean and I appreciated the motion sensor lighting on the steps and in the hallway. ||Our breakfasts were excellent, and we loved the option of eating out on the porch. There were fresh baked goods available at all times, as well as an ice maker, and kitchenette with a coffee maker on the floor where our room was.||Dining and recreation options around the inn were as one would expect in the midst of a college campus, but we had no trouble getting to public transportation to get downtown for dinner and sightseeing. ||Thank you so much for a perfect getaway for our anniversary. We will...
Read moreI ended up staying at Cornerstone unexpectedly, after my plans changed last-minute. I was on my way to the airport to head home, when my Penn doctor told me I needed to stay several more days. Without a place to stay, I asked Penn Med staff for a list of recommendations--Cornerstone was at the top. Initially I had wanted to stay there but decided against it, opting for something more economically conservative. Given the circumstances, I decided to make the exception and called them up. That decision turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. Hospitality personified--the fact that everyone was incredibly accommodating, flexible, and compassionate, made my personal situation infinitely easier. The innkeeper, Brian, welcomed me like I had come home.
The rooms were spotless, with ample amenities--like air purifiers, mini-split units, Wi-Fi extender/router in-room, television, private bathroom, hair dryer, mini soaps and toiletries, bottled water and cookies. I was always comfortable and slept great. Really nice rooms with large windows/views of the neighborhood, and plenty of privacy. Downstairs was well-stocked with coffee, tea, and homemade baked items--which were awesome. My favorite part, the B&B experience, was breakfast. It was the best feeling, just being able to sit down and enjoy a huge home cooked meal at a large dining table with strangers. Just being in each other's company, without phones or distractions... it felt wholesome.
Looking back on my trip to Philadelphia, I like to think my plans changed, so I could stay at...
