Love this church! A beautiful, historic building with great stories: Phillips Brooks, an early rector, wrote "O Little Town of Bethlehem," and also preached the sermon when President Lincoln's funeral train came to Philadelphia. Today, the church is known for its welcoming community, great music and good works. Google Open Hearts Cafe as an example.

This historically significant church is definitely worth a visit. Tours are available. Check the website. The stain glass windows are spectacular. The Christmas carol, "O Little Town of Bethlehem," was composed here by a former pastor. You can see the score in the office in the rear.

When interviewing here I did not have a good experience. The one gentleman during the interview process was not very professional at times. He was constantly looking down at his paper and playing with his paper clip almost zero eye contact to almost not giving any eye contact (seemed to me to be intentional) Not very welcoming at all the entire time. I’m thinking dude you guys are the ones that posted the ad not me. I feel like he was not in favor of me from the beginning that’s my perspective. The hiring team here were not very clear on the job title they were hiring for initially. They had 5 different job titles under one title. Therefore the questions asked to me were all over the place which put me at a disadvantage. I had to bring it to their attention. They sent me a surprise assignment to do Photoshop work, which is not even something I am suppose to be responsible for unless specified in the job posting. I did not even list this skill on my resume.

They had me come to three interviews over a month time frame as if I made it and made it to the next step. Drilled me in the beginning about looking for another job, my personal obligations and if the little bit of money they were going to pay was enough. Just really weird personal questions. My thing is this is not a 5 for 1 special. Pay people what they deserve. They strung me a long for a month with no consideration of my obligations and continuously told me how great I was doing. Stringing me along until another person came through. Not transparent at all. Shame on them for that.

Then they said that I wasn’t the whole pack for a coordinator position the easiest thing in life to do. Even the other person I was interview had stated that this position is exactly everything I can do. I have a masters lol pretty pathetic excuse. They didn’t even know what they were hiring for and I believe they are looking for someone who can do 10 things for $15 an hour. Nope not me. If you want additional service you have to pay for them. They were unorganized and had tremendous unrealistic expectations. No one is going to book parties and concerts at a Church unless it’s a Wedding. I don’t think they can accept that fact. Regardless it’s going to take time. That does not have happen over overnight. It’s clear because the last two people who were doing this job did not perform to their expectations. I guess with non-profit there is not a lot of structure. They can really use some better leadership. Even now I believe that they are listing this job as coordinator but they really want marketing which I have a degree in as well. They are very confused here. If you interview with the these people just make sure you get straight to the point and won’t waste a month of your...

Beautiful space, but don’t bother being late. Some young girls stand at the glass doors forbidding you from going in for at least ten minutes or more. They claimed this is what they were paid for. I find it sad that rather than quickly accommodate (the swinging glass door was noiseless after all) they just kept repeating that this is what they had to do. We’re here to support art! They didn’t seem to understand that there wouldn’t be a natural pause in the music when I explained to them the nature of the concert. So I only caught the tail end (last 10 minutes) of a beautiful concert, and it was the best 10 minutes of my life. I hope in the future there is more compassion instead of rule following as I was already anxious about being late and felt bad that I missed so much of what I paid for. I wept once I was let in, finally able to enjoy what I came for. I regret I probably won’t come back again because parking was an absolute nightmare and I had to pay $26 for an hour of only watching 10 minutes of the concert I came for. If it wasn’t this Grammy winning choir, I’d say it wouldn’t have been worth my time, effort or money. But for the...

With my utmost honest opinion, the service was really engaging and Pastor Gardner and some of the choir was really warmth, friendly, and welcoming. Being very unknown to this church and my first time there at this denomination , I introduce myself as not being from the Philadelphia area and honestly the pastor did preach about acceptance and in my next visit I do hope that some staff really do follow through with it. I really hope for a more open and accepting atmosphere. It could only happen if the members...
