My husband and I travel regularly, and we come to Philly many times per year. We stayed at the Ritz, Sofitel, Loews, and Doubletree when we have just needed single hotel rooms (some of those are significantly better than others and there are some where we would not stay again), and we stayed at the Element and the Roost when needing more robust accommodations.
We contacted the AKA initially as I was looking to host my family for Thanksgiving dinner. They all reside in the Philly area but my elderly parents live at the Parc, so we wanted to host somewhere close enough for my parents to walk.
When we first found the AKA online, we noted that there were two-bedroom suites that could accommodate our needs for a dinner party of that size, and I contacted the AKA Rittenhouse to inquire about Thanksgiving week and our plans. While I was not sure with whom I spoke initially, the individual was incredibly pleasant and positive about our staying at the AKA for Thanksgiving week. This individual put me in touch with Gianna in Sales, who was willing to work with me on waiving the 30-day stay timeframe for the 2-bedroom suites (which are HUGE). Gianna was wonderful, and very pleasant through several email exchanges where I asked about specific details.
We were in Philly 3 weeks prior to Thanksgiving week, and walked over to the AKA to ask if we could see a suite setup to ensure that we understood what we had to bring to prepare our dinner vs what the suite had for kitchenware. We met Bianca, who was incredibly accommodating, and took us on a tour of the facility and allowed us to see one of the two-bedroom suites so that we know what we had to bring (which was much of our kitchen since we were preparing an entire Thanksgiving dinner for 12).
When we first arrived, London not only helped us with all of our very heavy luggage and bins containing kitchenware (3 trips up with the cart), but was so pleasant and lovely throughout our stay.
Wister checked us in, and was also incredibly helpful and accommodating. During the course of our stay, Bianca and Juliet were enormously helpful in getting the suite ready for our big dinner, from helping us with getting the right number of place settings and supplies to having maintenance bring up an extra table and chairs to accommodate 12 instead of 8. Bianca assisted with many inquiries and was always ready to help. Tony and Tina were also so lovely and helpful throughout our stay, and both of them were instrumental in helping us load out everything to our car.
Simply, the staff is absolutely amazing. They were so friendly, positive, helpful, and accommodating; we felt that they truly shared our enthusiasm and excitement for our Thanksgiving dinner, and they had a large part in making it such a success.
Separately, the accommodations were amazing. We have never stayed at a facility that was so clean, well appointed and maintained, and able to maintain both an elegant and functional appeal. We worked there all week as well, and had no WiFi glitches or lack of locations within the suite for each of us to set up. I also had several business meetings nearby as the location was prime for meeting my Philly clients and while some of my clients were unable to come for dinner or cocktails, I would have been completely comfortable hosting a client event in the suite and may look to do so in the future when we stay again.
I cannot think of a facility that I am happier to recommend. We...
Read moreWe moved from the suburbs and needed a place to stay for 4 months. We were recommended by someone to stay here. They have not been to this place in a while but its the name and its in Rittenhouse. Like when people stayed at the Plaza in NY and that started falling apart so they closed it for renovations. The only plus was the service people are extremely friendly as well as the front desk. the lobby looks good but they only have one small elevator for use for everyone, including the people who help you move in. So it is hectic. People come and go all the time. We got it site unseen and when we walked in we could not believe we were paying for this rundown place. It should have been renovated 25 years ago! We had a two bedroom/2 bath and it was tiny. The kitchen was more of a kitchenette. Had no closet space except one closet in guest room. It was run down. There were 3 of us. there was no room to put anything and we lived out of suitcases on the floor. The bathroom was so tiny two people could not even be in the bathroom at the same time. The guest bathroom was a bit bigger. The furniture looked like it came from Target and was falling a part. The paint was a dreary yellow, the carpet and sofa was army green, the lighting was non existent. The blinds were old and yellowed and didn't close properly so light shined in the window from the street all night. The windows were terrible and you could hear shouting on the street all night. No laundry facilities in the units. Per housekeeping there was a laundry room with 2 washers and dryers for all the units but it was not available and the room was being redone. We had to go to a laundrymat every saturday! Plus they cleaned once per week and barely cleaned. they would change the towels and make the bed. They never wiped counters, cleaned bathrooms, vacuumed, and I asked them to!This place was expensive. After 1 week we started looking for other places to live. There was no way We were staying there. We found 3 other places to live. All had hardwood floors, nice furniture, washers and dryers in units, nice size bedrooms, bathrooms, lots of closet space. All about $800-$1000 cheaper and suare footage for 2 bedrooms at least 1200 0r more. We are very comfortable and happy with our new place and live like human beings. They spend over an hour every Saturday cleaning and do a great job. My advice is to look around. We found 3 other buildings much better, larger...
Read moreI recently had the absolute pleasure of staying at the magnificent aka.Rittenhouse Square Hotel, and I can confidently say that it was an unforgettable experience from the moment we stepped through the doors. The level of service we received was nothing short of exceptional—an A+ all around! The front desk staff went above and beyond to assist us with everything from recommending fantastic restaurants to providing information on local attractions and even bike rentals.
One of the highlights of our stay was the amazing location. There was so much within walking distance, including an array of delightful restaurants, charming cafés, and convenient bike rental options. On Friday night, we had a fantastic time at Chris’s Café, where we enjoyed the incredible sounds of Dave Damiani and the No Vacancy Orchestra. It was the perfect evening, made even better by the vibrant nightlife and great clubs just a short stroll away.
The hotel itself is a visual delight, complete with stunning city views that took our breath away. We were greeted with a warm, welcoming card and delightful treats that made us feel right at home. The in-room coffee was a perfect touch to start our mornings, truly a spectacular wake-up call!
After a fun-filled Friday night of indulging in great food, drinks, and dancing, we appreciated the top-notch gym facilities that were exactly what we needed to recharge. Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was another highlight of our stay; the culinary experience was simply spectacular!
Additionally, we were thrilled to learn that we could enjoy the amenities at the University City Hotel, which boasts an incredible pool and magnificent views of the City of Brotherly Love. I could go on and on about our wonderful stay—the Rittenhouse Square Hotel exceeded all our expectations!
My fiancé and I are already planning our return visit and can’t wait to share this gem with our friends and family. We wholeheartedly recommend this stunning hotel to anyone looking for an extraordinary getaway.
We can’t wait to return!
