Stayed 2 nights as Explorist member. Not offered complimentary bottled water upon arrival, but there were 2 bottles in the room. $15 caesar salad had soggy crutons, kraft shaker parmesean cheese, and rubbery chicken. Room was spacious and comfortable with a floor-to-ceiling city view of some rooftops. Shower was large with secondary adjustable shower head. But why was the room ceiling bare concrete? Scary fire alarm went off at 2:30am for no good reason. Siren bell rang constantly and creepy loud robot voice announced, "evacuate immediately, do not use the elevators." Everyone evacuated. Walked down 10 flights. Stood in hot humid street for 45 min. Firefighters showed up unalarmed. Then up 10 flights. Hotel offered no compensation, explanation, acknowledgment or apology for horrible middle-of-night alarm fright and lost sleep. Bed was comfortable with soft white linens. AC was unreliable. Set AC for 67F but it shut off after a while. Woke up sweating several times because it was 71F in room, although setting still showed 67. Made for bad sleep. No free breakfast. $30 breakfast was medicore at best. Fried potatoes were greasy and unnecessarily spicy. Melon fruit was not ripe and strawberries were very tart. Chicken dinner was $30, full of pungent fennel seeds and bitter greens. Ended up ordering Uber Eats instead, so paid for 2 dinners. Live music in restaurant area Friday night. Had to Uber everywhere because hotel is not close to Philly sights or airport/train station. Other notes: Parking is very expensive. Bed platform will smack your shins. Under bed platform, motion sensor lights turn on when you get up, light is way too bright for dark room. Ice machines are not on every floor. Not worth $330/night. Toilet room is separate from shower area. It has a barn door. Shower area is with sink, no dedicated door; just frosted glass shower door. If you bring your dog, be aware there are no areas to walk your dog on plant material. It's all urban and concrete. Skip the expensive dog pamper package. Trash cans don't have liners; had to ask housekeeping for trash bags to store used food containers without...
Read moreUpdate from Dec 2024: We had a return stay at HC Center City Philadelphia. This 2nd stay as good as or even better than the previous stay. This time, we didn't get the city view and only on 5th floor (it was quite full for our first of 2 nights, we could move 2nd night, but we didn't want to deal with the hassle). But the stay was still really good.
Prior to arrival, Noelle from HC Philadelphia reached out to us. She provided necessary information, answered questions that I had promptly. At front desk, Valerie (sp?) was fantastic and provided great service. And at the Patchwork restaurant, Hassan (sp?) was great too. Overall, we had absolutely fantastic service all around at the hotel. Would definitely continue to recommend this hotel.
Below from September 2023 stay: Our one-night stay at the Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia was delightful, with top-notch services complementing its prime location.
The room’s aesthetic was pleasing to the eye, boasting cleanliness and a stylish design. The corridor leading to our room was equally well-maintained. We enjoyed a restful night’s sleep thanks to the cozy beds, and the 9th-floor cityscape offered a stunning view to wake up to.
Being a Hyatt Globalist and booking with points, we were pleased with the complimentary parking. The breakfast experience was enjoyable, particularly with the à la carte option from the Patchwork restaurant, as the buffet didn’t quite meet our expectations. The restaurant’s ambiance and service were very good.
The bathroom was mostly satisfactory, spotless throughout. However, we did notice the water pressure was somewhat weak. The hotel’s design places the toilet separately, which is convenient, but the shower area lacks a door, presenting a minor privacy concern. It wasn’t a significant issue for us, although I did give my teenage daughters privacy by staying in the bedroom area during their shower time.
In summary, despite a few small areas for improvement, our experience warrants a 5/5...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia for two nights and were initially very happy with how clean (it was not carpeted which was great for my allergies!), bright and quiet the room was. When we checked in, we made it clear to the person at the front desk that we needed our room serviced daily because of my allergies, and she assured us that she had made a note of that. However, we realized that our room hadn't been serviced when we came back to the room the next day at about 3:30pm (we had left in the morning at 10am). When we called the front desk to rfind out what had happened, the front desk person Patrick was terribly unhelpful. He was very matter-of-fact about it, saying that he wasn't sure he could find anyone to service our room at that time of day. Of course we understood that, but it would have gone down much better with us if he had at least shown some empathy for the inconvenience and discomfort we were experiencing. He even asked us what it was exactly that we wanted, which was incredulous! We told him that we would like to have the room serviced, and if that was not possible, that it'd be great to have the trash bins emptied and fresh towels delivered. He said he would get that done, so we decided to just hang out in the lobby to wait for the cleaning service and/or fresh towels to be delivered. After about 10 minutes, Patrick called out to us that the towels had been delivered. My husband went up to the room to check - no towels!!! When I told Patrick about that, he claimed that the towels couldn't be sent to our room because we weren't in it, which wasn't what he had told us earlier. It was incredibly frustrating for us because we had just spent an hour trying to get the kind of service that any hotel should provide, to no avail. So, if you are looking for a decent hotel with good front desk service, this is definitely not the...
