Iโve been going to Burleyโs Gym for over 2 years and itโs been nothing short of an amazing experience. I was never an avid gym goer, but I got referred to the gym when I was looking for a trainer to help me prepare for the police academy by a friend whoโs son trained with John. When I spoke with Burley he was more than happy to get me connected with the appropriate trainer and after 8 months of mostly HIIT training, I was well prepared for the academy. After being away for 5 months, I was hesitant to return to the gym, but Iโm glad I did. In just a year Iโve been pushed to develop myself into a much better person because of the people at Burleyโs. I still do personal training and can say without hesitation that the trainers challenge you to push yourself to your limits (and past them) everyday. They ensure they satisfy your specific needs and help you to reach your goals. They are flexible with scheduling and are extremely professional. Aside from the trainers, everyone at Burleyโs is friendly and the atmosphere is amazing. Everyone is supportive of one another and more than willing to help if you need a spot or have a question. Everyone at Burleyโs realizes that we are there for one common goal which is to better ourselves and it is displayed in the trainers and every person who enters the gym. Iโve made great friendships through the gym because people there constantly push me to better myself and are willing to help me reach my goals. I couldnโt think of a better place to go workout, cooler trainers, or a better gym community. Burley keeps the place clean, ensures everyone is able to workout without interference, and develops professional relationships with each of his members. I would without question recommend anyone looking to get into the gym to come to Burleyโs and give the classes or personal training sessions a shot. I can assure you that you wonโt regret it and your money will be...
ย ย ย Read moreIโve been going to Burleyโs for about a few months now and I think it is a really great gym. Some positives include: it is a smaller gym but you can reasonably get everything that you need done even at more crowded times, really great personal trainers, a mediocre physical therapist at the gym who can make programs and recommend specific exercises to fix whatever problem (for an additional cost), the payment goes month by month allowing you to just get one month at a time (make sure to call/email them to cancel - they will not refund you), and great variety in equipment.
The negatives include: Massive amount of judgment by fellow gym members (and sometimes staff) which I face often as a rookie weightlifter, extremely poor response times by staff regarding program creation, and not being open on Sundays
Consensus: If you are a new lifter like myself I would recommend doing some personal training before going alone as the judgment can get intimidating. Otherwise, this gym has everything you need and is a great...
ย ย ย Read moreThe first local gym that has that "old school" vibration! You can be YOURSELF and there's no stares, judgement, or ridiculous sensitivity. You can train hard with maximum effort, and people do their own thing, not complain to staff. Because of the way I am allowed to train, the gains I've made are incredible. They definitely have a true understanding of bodybuilding , power and strength, cross fit, or whatever your flavor when it comes to training as its all respected. This place is a gym, where everyone is trying to be better than yesterday, and it isn't pretty; its work....HARD WORK and the owners support you in every endeavor, as well as the staff, and personal trainers. You shouldn't have to feel like you're doing something wrong when your pushing 500 lb wrack pulls, or grinding out 405 of the squat wrack! I'm a member for the rest of my life as I will never find a gym like...
