Bake House on Main — Restaurant in Phillipsburg

I have a little story to explain why I would recommend this place…

I am a Canadian truck driver, I deliver just up the street from this bakery quite often and I had decided to walk down to grab a coffee. Making small talk with the lady at the counter about the heat and I had absentmindedly mentioned how sleeping on the street the previous night was horrendous, I was sleeping in my bunk in the truck, parked on the street. Anyways I’m sitting outside on their patio enjoying my coffee and bagel when the owner comes out visibly upset that I was sleeping on the street and offering to help in whatever way she could(thinking I meant I was literally sleeping on the sidewalk) While it was a funny misunderstanding, I have to say the fact that she was upset and wanting to help a complete stranger who she thought was in need is incredible and I would recommend anyone to stop here, even if her baking was horrible(which it isn’t, the bagels are fantastic) I would still recommend based on her...

Called and spoke to the owner to get ideas to place an order for a party. She was not helpful at all. I tried to ask her for suggestions for stuff for a dessert table and she flat out told me she doesn't know what I am looking for. And I asked if she had suggestions not helpful at all. So I proceeded to say I guess I will contact somewhere else then and she said ok fine. So here you try and support local businesses but when you have that kind of rudeness who would want to give anyone business like that! One of the best bakeries in the area. I was heartbroken when Sarivan Bakery closed in Belvidere since places like this are hard to come by nowadays. They have the best bagels in my opinion (slightly chewy, yet airy and have great flavor). You also cannot go wrong trying any other baked goods they have neatly displayed. I am unfortunately not living in the area anymore, but I was visiting and made sure to get some bagels and baked goods to bring back with me.
