Drove over 20 minutes to Saguaro Library to attend an event they were hosting, craft and movie, from 2-4pm. I was very disappointed with my experience to say the least. As a newcomer, I was looking forward to exploring what the library had to offer, but, unfortunately, it fell short of expectations in several areas. Firstly, the staff was not very welcoming or helpful. Nobody greeted us with a “hello”, “welcome in” ,or is there anything I can help you with?” The ladies at the front desk were very distasteful and rude as we returned crayons we had borrowed to the children’s area of this library. My children expressed interest into the stickers they had displayed so we grabbed a few for them. However, the front desk lady asked if they had participated in the scavenger hunt, which I said no they didn’t they participated in another event. Which she then responds well they are only for children doing the scavenger hunt. While I understand the intention of encouraging participation, the way this was communicated was unwelcoming and rigid, especially for young children who were simply excited about stickers. Moreover, there was no craft that was given during this event, even though it specifically said online that there would be one. A table was set up for a craft but unfortunately, no other items were provided. Hopeful for decent resolution for eager children wanting to participate in a craft, she said she could possibly find something for them. I appreciate the effort this lady took to find a craft however, she returned with a craft but no tools to perform the craft. No glue, scissors, a hole punch, colors, cotton balls… and much more, that were necessary. My children and I were once again disappointed. Overall, our experience left a lot to be desired. I hope the library can improve its approach to customer service, particularly when it comes to interacting with families and...
Read moreWent to this library which is 40 min from my house to get a culture pass for an East Valley theater production. The Phoenix catalog said there 8 of 8 available at this location. When I got there, I didn't see the pass so I asked the library thinking they must be kept behind the counter. The librarian rudely said "We all out" in a very condescending way. I asked her when they got checked out since it was 10 am and the library opened at 9 am. She said again rudely, "We haven't had them in weeks. They usually go as soon as we put them out." I was confused by this statement because the catalog onlind said they was 8 of 8 available right before I left the house. I checked online because showed her the catalog and she said "That's wrong. We'll take it down." I told her I drove 40 minutes to get there and still I got no apology. In 5 minutes, I notice the pass was removed. Very frustrating how easy that was to remove the item but I had to spend and hour and twenty minutes driving to prevent others from having the same experience. Not acceptible. I would expect at least an apology given the error on the...
Read moreThe comment about this place being like a “quaint boutique” is laughable at best. This place is filthy dirty. The parking lot and surrounding landscaped areas are just covered, covered, covered in cigarettes and trash. Just every inch. There is a woman who’s constantly walking around like she’s cleaning something, but it’s just as filthy every time I go. Gosh I hope she doesn’t get paid by the hour.
This guy is out here every single time I come just chain smoking right by the entrance. He blows smoke all over women, children, infants in strollers. He does not care and apparently neither does the city of phoenix. My daughter has a lung condition and we meet her speech therapist here once a week. Even though she is extremely sensitive to smoke, she has to walk through a full cloud of it to get to her therapist.
Just one visit to a Phoenix city library and it’s easy to under the kind of people that run...
